dell mini 9 finally came in
so i finally received my Dell Mini 9 netbook. I've been dying to get a netbook ever since I saw the asus eee come out. I basically bought the mini 9 for 220 and i had a 100 gift card. pretty sweet deal. Unbuntu version because I need a pure non microsoft OS to work with and ubuntu is pretty lean.
My only gripe about the mini 9 is the keyboard. it designed offset to the left a tiny bit so center line between your hands and the center of the keyboard is not aligned. It will just take some getting used to but a tad annoying. the apostrophe key is also in a horrid plase, i so need to remap it.
I bought a 16 gb SD card and using it for my main storage. The 8gb solid state drive will just be for programs.
So far I really like this netbook. The speakers are just awesome, trumps all other netbooks. Also boots up from cold in 20-25 seconds. Thats just fast. watching movies on here is not that bad at all. battery life seems pretty decent for a 3 cell battery. No moving parts in the unit, so its deadly quiet. I just need to install 2 gigs of ram in and maybe solder a usb hub inside the casing for future hacks and I will be set.
