(no subject)
So on Sunday, Dad and I headed up here to move me into my and Jen's dorm room. Fortunately, there were a bunch of football players milling around, helping people move their stuff, so in no time flat all my stuff was in the room. The only problem - this room is pretty much a shoebox compared to my old one, and I knew Jen would be bringing a heck of a lot more stuff than I did. Plus, I knew that we'd be moving most of the furniture around. So, with the exception of my TV, fridge, and computer, I managed to stash all of my stuff into my closet. Not long afterward, Jen arrived with her parents and brother, so Dad and I helped them bring her stuff in as well. After all the furniture was moved in, Jen's folks took us out to a little Mexican restaurant down the road. Yummy!
Moving the furniture and arranging the room was entertaining, to say the least. We lofted one of the beds over two dressers, and removed the shelf from Jen's desk to use for the TV and stereo. I was fretting for a while because I realized I didn't have shelf space for my DVDs and books, but then I found the bunk ladder underneath my bed, and I got the brilliant idea to use that as a shelf.
We spent the rest of the day milling around and chatting with people - I gotta say, I certainly feel much more welcome here than I did at IC, lol. So far the people here are very cool, and Jen's friends are fun to hang out with. ^^
Yesterday, I got my ID - which is kinda important, since I not only get my meals with that thing, but I also need it to get into the dorm, lol - and went to lunch with Jen and some of her friends. Afterward, she and I walked down to the local Walgreen's to get some hooks (for Xmas lights and her Chinese lantern) and a couple gallons of water. Then we lazed around for a couple hours before going to dinner (mmm, chicken tenders...*drool*), and I went to my food service meeting. Fun stuff, that. I have work hours, though, and I can expect to get a nice paycheck, too, so yay! Then we had our fun little floor meeting, and we went outside to watch 50 First Dates. I lurve that movie now. It's slightly more of a chick flick, but I loved it.
Then last night/VERY early this morning, the internet went out. Right when I was in the middle of several IMs. >< So yes, those of you I was chatting with last night, I'm really sorry - I did not ditch you out of nowhere.
