"That was Tim Curry when he had nice legs."

Dad when we were discussing Rocky Horror, lol.

Mom and I left for D.C. early Thurs. morning - and I will say, it was okay until we got in the rental car at Ronald Reagan Nat'l Airport, and Mom tossed the D.C. map in my lap. Now, I'm a horrible navigator, anyone who has depended on me for directions and map-reading knows this. So we get into D.C., and Mom starts barking at me to tell her where we are, where we can find parking, and how to get to the White House area. Now, she hadn't really been thru the city before then, either, but I was overwhelmed because a) I wanted to see a little of the city we were driving thru, and b) navigating those roads is hell on a stick. The numbered streets go north-south, and the lettered ones go east-west, while Pennsylvania Ave. slashes diagonally through them. So yeah, I was trying my best to help get us onto Pennsylvania Ave., but I had to practically snap at her to get thru to her that I didn't know where parking was. (At one point I turned to her and said "I can always get out and walk if you want.") By the time we found parking, I was trying my best to stay chipper. We got hotdogs, saw the Washington Memorial, saw the White House (from the road), and also checked out the new WWII Memorial - that's on the other end of the longass Reflecting Pool from the Lincoln Memorial. That was prolly my favorite stop during the three-hour D.C. tour we made. The irritating part, tho, was that I practically had to play mom to Mom. Every time she said she said we were headed for x-location, she'd suddenly stop and veer in a different direction, saying, "no wait, I wanna check this out." I had to say several times, "No, you said we're going this way, so we're going this way." (Normally I don't mind wandering, but keep in mind it was hot, sunny - I'd left my hat at home - and I was tired and irritated.) Aiya. But we did make it out of D.C. and to our hotel in Harrisburg in one piece. That night, we went out, got dinner, and got foodage and such for our room. On Friday, we headed up to Mercersburg for the Baccalureate. That was pretty nice, and the school campus is pretty - I also met a few of the administration people, who were awesome. For some reason, they thought I was the younger of the two, lol. Today was the graduation, and oh lordy, it was chaotic. First and foremost, the weather. Everyone had been praying for sun. Nope, we got chill and rain. (Who got all the sun? CHICAGO! The sun stayed home instead of going to Pennsylvania for my sister's graduation! How ironic is that? lol) So we went indoors to the auditorium for the ceremony. It was a class of 110, so yeah, they could all fit onstage - but since some of the students had huge families (or lots of family members who are alumni) there weren't many seats to go around. Fortunately, they managed to find seats for everyone - good thing, since the whole thing lasted for 3 hours. But the ceremony went very well - Erica was one of the final speakers, and she did a great job with her speech. ^^ Anyway, after the ceremony was over, Mom and I headed for the airport, and that trip in itself was hell: after a delay at a McDonald's drive-thru, as well as an accident on a freeway we were on, Mom fretted we wouldn't make our plane. But we did make our flight, so yes, now we are home. And I CAN FINALLY SLEEP IN! YAAAAAAY! *dances on the ceiling...why? because I can!*

Oh, and some news from Utah. Remember how I said Jamie was listed as non-deployable? Yeah, he fuggered up there - I guess he skimmed the line too fast and read some other dude's listing instead. -_-;; I actually found out about this on Wednesday - I just didn't say anything until I knew what was going to happen now. (I will say that when he told me, I did go outside and holler "WHY THE FUCK ARE WE AT WAR?!") But I did call Jamie up tonight to see how he's doing, and apparently he's gonna be switching bases by Nov. 20 (3 days before my birthday). Here's the really amusing part. He'll not only be leaving Utah, but he'll be leaving the U.S. However, he WON'T be going to Iraq. He'll be going to the Land of Beer and Chocolate. That's right, he'll be going to Germany. Between then and now, he's not sure if he'll be going anywhere else, but if this transfer is gonna be in 5 months or less, I highly doubt he'll be touching Iraq at all (which is my worst fear at the moment).

Anyway, since I'm feeling just a bit lightheaded, I'm prolly gonna turn in soon. *waves* Cya laters.
