Hello, Aramiel. I know we haven't met, and might never will. You do not know me, nor would you even care, but there are some things I want to tell you. You know, man to man. Angel to angel, or fallen angel to fallen angel. Whichever. Regardless, I promise I will keep it straight to the point.
Simply speaking - you're a jackass.
(( I hope you appreciate the brutal effectiveness of such human words. There is no poetry here, no flowery prose, but I am certain you instantly understood what I meant. ))
Yes. I think you're a jackass.
Now, to be fair, I'm sure you're an okay guy compared to a lot of other people out there. Also, I may not get into bullet-by-bullet detail why exactly I think you're a jackass, but there's one thing about you that always stands out, one sore point that sticks out like a freshly popped pimple on Humpty Dumpty's smooth white butt: why oh why do you always want to be some kind of hero? And, judging from your writings, a "dark hero" at that.
So. Why?
Now, I'm not saying that heroes are a bad thing. If there's anything that this world is in short supply of, its true heroes. But what struck me as odd about you is why you keep talking about it, writing about how you're a hero; always telling the world that you're a fallen guardian, proclaiming to the world that you're defending whatever it is you're defending, all by your lonesome, against impossible odds.
What do you think makes a hero, Aramiel? Is it courage? Is it power? Honor? Dedication? Majesty? Sure, I admit all these words sound pretty. Desirable, even. But you know what? All these things you seem to be so fond of are just that - words.
Let me tell you about heroes. True heroes are common men and women who have stepped forward and fought against adversity even with their numerous shortcomings. They are ordinary people who go further than what is called of them with little chance of reward and praise. Heroes are those who know the true meaning of sacrifice, and are willing to make such sacrifices above and beyond what the rest of the world is capable of.
Tell me, Aramiel. What have you sacrificed lately?
Anything? Anything at all?
You see, true heroes don't tell the world that they are heroes...the rest of the world just knows that they are. They see it through their actions, the way they carry themselves. There is something subtly beautiful about someone who has the strength to make real sacrifices and the humility to go with it.
When was the last time that someone thanked you for your heroism, Aramiel?
You should realize, fallen one, that you have too much pride. Hubris. You call yourself a hero so you can be elevated among your peers; to be admired and praised and just generally feel like a superior piece of shit. You are someone who doesn't help for the sake of helping, one who hasn't even done anything for others aside from defending his own twisted honor from imaginary threats. You "do good" and "protect" your lady solely for getting a reward, like a dog doing tricks for a little treat. You have committed the epitome of selfishness. You, Aramiel, are no hero.
A bit too much from a stranger, you think? Am I hurting your feelings, your honor? Too bad, Aramiel. I am not your friend, I am not here to help you nor give you advice. I am here to tell you what you don't want to hear, to tear you up and spit you out. I am here to rip you a new asshole solely because no one else has done it yet. Now, you can either snap back at me like a butthurt emo fag or take it like a man...sit down, listen, and make a better person out of yourself.
Hubris, Aramiel. Too much pride. Its enough to turn angels into fallen angels. Fallen angels, Aramiel. Tell me again, just what exactly are you right now?
I thought as much.
What's your excuse now?
Yours truly, Aniel
