One day I would really like to solve that whole "The mind is willing, but the body isn't able, thing. That's really one of the few things that gets me about life. How someone can be such a genius, so completly full of life, and they know exactly what they want to do how they want to do it, and if they were twenty again it would be fantastic, but now that their older it just doesn't work. Dr. Phil(yeah I know), says people will start living to 150. I can see that, but...haven't you SEEN people today at the age of 90 plus? It's crazy, these people don't know what their talkin about. In an age of cancer, aids and yes terrorism, I don't think people want to start to live that long, especially when most people can't. There's always something. I was reading a book about Desilu, the Coporation Desi Arnez and Lucille Ball created. Her final project was a movie called "Stone Pillow", in which she played a homeless woman for television. Got rave reviews, but because she filmed it in the middle of may during a heat wave, and she had to succumb to the costume of a million layers to make it believable, it took it's affect on her health. Somewhere inside of this legendary great layed the same person she was 30 years ago when her famed series began. She had the same humor, same outlook, she knew what the audience wanted, and she also knew she wasn't able to provide it anymore. It didn't matter to her the millions of dollars and vacation homes she had. In fact she never realy considered herself famous, ever. A true artist in every sense of the word. You can tell because if they are told they aren't able to continue this passion they've held so hold, and which has brought them where they are are, and they just have to accept it now and be like everyone else whose their age? Are you kidding me? It crushed her, but she understood, she didn't like it, but she understood. She was rough, hard, and extremly critical of ANYONE who worked with her. In fact that famous "Mommy Dearest" story, about Joan Crawford beating her children with hangers? Lucy made her cry on set, Joan Crawford was completly timid and setback in the presence of Lucille Ball. It didn't matter if it was her children, the director, the cast, the guy that goes and get the sandwhichs for everyone and yes even her husband. When she was on stage anyone was at risk for her verbal harshness, but she was also the most dedicated kindest person according to all the people who got these famous verbal beatings. So when she got to be older, and she coulnd't do what she once did, it stunned her. She was still the same person, she didn't change, just got older. She loved the industry with a true passion and it didn't matter to her that part of it was corrupt as the rest as long as she had a handle in making it somewhat good. A respectful silent honour for the first female comedian on televison. She surpassed every doubt ever place in her, and still came out shining, that is the great achievment ever. Her idea materialized from the sheer drive and dedication of this woman. She set the bar very high, but it's all but disappeared now. I know I will always recognize it, and so should the rest of the world.
It's the drive and dedication that gets you to where you should be, not just the dream alone.
