Chapter1Chapter2, Chapter3

Chapter 4:

“I, uhm, I guess I should be going,” Nino started awkwardly barely a couple of seconds since the door to the apartment opened. It wasn’t just him who was awkward that time because every one of them was, well, except maybe for Ryo who looked more hurt, betrayed and/or furious than awkward.

Masami had just finished a hurried introduction to the two men who opened the door for her and him and well, as much as he wanted to stay there with Masami, he isn’t that much of a jerk. He might have the right in his eyes to be there being Masami’s first boyfriend but the other guy still is in a relationship with her. And as much as he wants to win her back, he knew that a confrontation that early would only be bad for all of them, especially since Masami still looked confused.

And by the looks of the small, awkward smile Masami had just given him, the woman does not like the awkward, not to mention tensed, atmosphere they’re all in and is actually thankful for him backing out. He understood. He even understood it when he heard Jun say “Yeah, you should.” The guy’s just looking out for his sister, that’s all.

He also understood when he saw the guarded look Ryo had on when he turned to the guy.

With the quickest of nods to the two men, and a reassuring smile to Masami, he turned his back and left. Masami and Ryo needed to sort things out first, that much he knew.

But he will be back. That’s for sure.
-----

“Uhm” Jun started the moment they saw Nino’s back disappear from their line of sight, breaking the tensed silence that filled the air the moment he and Ryo saw Masami drawing near. To be specific, when they saw who was with Masami as they drew nearer. “I can go out for a bit,” he volunteered when in that split-second, Masami had thrown him a pleading look.

Much as he would love to be there to protect his sister from what could happen, he also knew, and it is painfully obvious, that Masami and Ryo needed to talk. He will get his chance to interfere in a later time. Besides, it is something that the two needed to settle for themselves. He’ll ask the questions later. And, if needed, he’ll hit who needs to be hurt later too.

“No,” Ryo said in a rather croaky voice, as though he had just forced himself to speak and Jun and Masami turned to him in surprise.

Jun saw Ryo’s hands move and, for a split-second, he was about to jump in thinking that the guy would hurt his sister. But then Ryo held Masami’s hands, much to the surprise of the siblings.

“I think it’d be better for the two of us to take a walk,” Ryo continued as though in explanation to the surprised looks in their faces. And just as worry swept Jun’s face, the possibilities of what Ryo might do to his sister filling in his brain, Ryo added with a reassuring smile “We’re just going to catch a breath of fresh air, don’t worry about it.”

“Y-yeah,” Masami seconded, an answer to Jun’s questioning look when he turned to her, as she looked at her boyfriend in surprise before she turned back to him and smiled. “Fresh air would be nice.”

“If you say so…” Jun ended up sighing after a while.

Ryo smiled, but that smile did not reach his eyes. Helping Masami off her bag, he handed it to Jun and said “We’ll be back.”

Jun simply nodded but their eyes spoke volumes to each other in that moment that passed.

By the time Ryo and Masami left hand in hand, Jun is sure of one thing, both of them are going to be hurt after their ‘breath of fresh air’. He’s just not sure though who’s going to be more hurt after that.
-----

“N, uh, Nino was just walking me home…” Masami broke into the silence with a rather quiet voice.

She and Ryo were already in the park a few blocks away from the apartment, not that either of them said anything about heading there or anything at all. She didn’t even know that that’s where they’re heading to, and it seems, neither did Ryo. They only found themselves already there. Only a few people were there actually, after all, it was starting to get dark. There were no kids, just the occasional students and/or lovers.

In a way, it does make sense for the two of them to head there without words being spoken. The place does hold quite a special place in their hearts, especially the area in the park where they are both seated in, the swings. It was, after all, the place where Ryo convinced Masami to give him a chance more than two years ago.
-----

Ryo had already been buzzing around Masami for a few months by then since they were introduced when Ryo’s firm did a reconstruction on the building on the lot just opposite the school. And up to that point, Masami had been pretty adamant in not accepting any suitors. A lot have tried but to no avail. In fact, she hadn’t really considered Ryo to be courting then, even though she would go as far as admitting that she sees the guy as someone quite special.

“Won’t you’re boss be wondering where you’re heading off whenever you leave the site?” she had asked that one afternoon the two of them stopped by the park. It was one of her more stressful days as a grade school teacher and she really just wanted to relax. Ryo suggested they go for a stroll at the park before they ended up at the swing to ease her senses, she agreed.

“You mean Sho?” Ryo chuckled as he pushed her. “That guy would be wondering what the heck I’m still doing there actually if I hadn’t left the site. He’s that cool of a boss.”

“Why?” Masami asked, turning around to look Ryo confusedly in the face. She had never known, or heard of a corporate boss being that lenient towards his or her employees.

“Because he knows, as evidenced by Maru, that engineers work better when they’re inspired,” Ryo smiled. “And also because he knows, thanks to that nosy and noisy Uchi, that I’m courting you.”

“You’re not courting me,” Masami reasoned, digging her shoes on the sand to stop the swing’s movement.

“Oh really?” Ryo grinned. “What am I doing then?”

Masami thought for a while. The two of them had never really talked about what they’re doing, or what Ryo is doing at the very least. He’d pick her up at school, walk her home. He’d call and they’d be on the phone for hours. He’d take her out for snacks every once in a while.

And while a lot would already consider that as acting, to Masami’s benefit, some would consider it as simply being friendly. Besides, it had already been stressed that she does not date.

“You’re being really nice,” she eventually said.

Ryo smiled, twisting the swing bars so that Masami is fully facing him. “While I do like to think that I’m a really nice person, this is not me just being nice, not even me being really nice. I’m not one for lavish gifts. And I don’t think I’m the type of guy who can sweep you off your feet. But I like you Masami. I really, seriously like you. And I would like to be your boyfriend if you’ll have me.”

And at that moment, Masami fell silent. But it wasn’t because she didn’t know what to say. It was because for the first time in years, she felt her heart beating erratic again, the feeling of warmth spreading from her heart to the rest of her body. And she just had to fight off the smile that’s obviously about to light up her face.
-----

“Why did you two break up?” those were the words Ryo asked in response to what she said, words that actually took her aback. A lot of scenarios had gone through her mind actually, a lot of possibilities that might occur. But Ryo asking that question was none of those possibilities playing in her head.

“W-what?”

“You and Nino,” Ryo asked, his eyes focused on his feet. “Was it because he had to leave?”

Still bewildered with his choice of question, she shook her head “No.”

“Oh,” Ryo replied, his actions not really mimicking much of the surprise in his voice. “Why then? Because I figured, if you two broke up because he had to leave the country or he already left, then, maybe you two didn’t really want to break up. You just had to. I guess it explains why it took you so long to accept suitors again.”

“That has nothing to do with it!” Masami cried, angling her swing seat so that she’s facing Ryo.

Ryo looked up momentarily, but he didn’t look at her, instead, he looked straight ahead before he focused on the ground again.

“Why then?”

Masami swallowed. Ryo had been quite curious about that in the past actually but she had always eluded the question. She knew she couldn’t do that anymore.

“It, it took me that long because I, I wasn’t sure if I had it in me to care that much again,” she said. “To be in that much, to love that much. I wasn’t sure if I was ready to make another try.”

“Are you sure you’re ready now?” Ryo asked, and Masami heard the edge in his voice.

In a way, she should feel hurt, or offended, but she knew the edge in his voice was not unwarranted. She wasn’t going to play the ‘I’m honest!’ card, not when the guy had just seen her ex walking her home. But when she didn’t say anything immediately, Ryo added “Why me then?”

Masami took another while before she managed to answer that question but Ryo didn’t interrupt her this time.

“Because you were persistent,” she said. “Because you can make me smile even if I’m so tired or tensed. Because when I’m with you, I feel so weak and so strong at the same time. Because you made me realize that I shouldn’t be scared of giving love a chance.”
-----

Any other man would feel delighted with those words Masami had just uttered. Any other man would feel assured with what she meant. But not Ryo. Well, no, actually, it’s not entirely because he’s Ryo. It’s more because of what he had been told about what had happened between Masami and Nino.

Jun had told him, and really, he would have loved to not have learned about it then, a few things about what happened to Masami and his ex; how they came to be, how they were together, and how the two of them ended. Jun said that Masami wasn’t really keen on getting into a relationship prior to Nino but that Nino had been really persistent about it until she gave in. Jun also said that Nino didn’t really do the flowers, chocolates and gifts route but showed his affection more through his actions. Jun also mentioned that Masami used to always smile because of the guy to the point that Jun had considered the thought that Masami’s getting crazy.

Remembering those things Jun had told him while listening to those words from her after what he just saw made it actually a bit unbearable. Part of him wants to blame Jun for telling him all those things but really, Jun was just making jealous. It’s everything else that’s happening that’s making him hurt.

Looking at her finally, and for the first time since they arrived at the park, he asked straight out “Tell me, did you choose me because of all that or more because I reminded you of Nino too much?”

GENRE: RL

DISCLAIMER: The only thing i own in this story is the plot...
AUTHOR'S NOTE: this is a collection of drabbles featuring various characters and personalities in the Japanese Entertainment scene,   all with two things in common, the story is under 1000 words and it has something to do with dreams... also, these drabbles are NOT arranged in whatever manner, reason, or purpose... i write them as they go... :D
SUMMARY: Dreams, (almost) everyone has it... And (almost) everyone is affected by it...

Wedding Dress (Fujigaya Taisuke, Kitayama Hiromitsu, Oomasa Aya, pair:TaisukexAya)

Fujigaya Taisuke had to blink furiously for a couple of times as he tried to not get blinded by the flash of the lights surrounding him. He’s used to the spotlight really, he’s used to the flash, he’s used to the attention being a Johnny idol himself, but really, with all those cameras aiming at him, it is not unwarranted for him to wish for a bit of a space.

A little while longer, he was given space and only then did he notice that he was wearing a tux. He saw that the place he’s in is beautifully decorated too. But while he did notice the beauty of the surroundings, it wasn’t enough to retain his attention, not when something seems to be pulling his attention. And just as his eyes seemed to search for the source of that pull, the photographers, as though on cue, gave space to reveal an aisle, scattered with a lovely mix of roses of all colors.

And walking down that aisle is a beautiful woman. Taisuke couldn’t really see her face clearly, what with all the flashbulbs messing with his eyesight for a while. But then she drew closer and closer to him and he finally saw her, recognized her and he couldn’t help but smile. Oomasa Aya, and she’s heading right to him, a bouquet of white and pink fresh roses in her hand. And when she reached him, he took her hand and they both turned around.

In front of them is a priest and Taisuke could barely hear the priest utter the matrimonial words over the beating of his own heart. It felt perfect, having her hand in his as the two of them stood side by side.

“By the power vested in me,” the priest is now saying. “I now pronounce you man and wife. You may now kiss the bride.”

Taisuke had just turned around and smiled in delight at his bride who’s now also facing and smiling at him. But before anything else could happen, he felt himself shaking. It was light at first before it turned violent.
-----

Taisuke woke up with a start, a magazine falling from his chest to his lap.

It took him a couple of moments to finally realize where he was and what was happening to him. He just had a dream, a dream that was cut short when the blurred image in front of him shook him awake. He could almost groan, especially when the blurred image came into focus and he saw who it was.

Kitayama Hiromitsu, and the guy had a really wide grin on his lips.

“You know, I’m finally convinced that you really are not getting enough sleep because of that drama of yours,” Hiromitsu said. “It’s the first time you fell asleep earlier than me during transport! We’re almost there, by the way, which is why I woke you up.”

Taisuke knew that Hiromitsu is, of course, referring the drama Risou no Musuko he’s part of and the fact that they are in a van heading to one of their group’s TV show guest appearances. The others had already headed there on a different van, being along a different route. The studio where Hiromitsu was training for his play and the studio where they were taking some of the shoots for the drama just happen to have been along the same route.

“I’m just tired,” Taisuke replied, fighting hard to keep of the annoyance he felt from manifesting in his voice. Because really, he is annoyed with the guy, he’s just not sure entirely sure why.

“You were dreaming too!” Hiromitsu grinned. “Tell me, did I ever talk when I was sleeping?”

“No,” Taisuke responded distractedly before he realized the implication of what the guy had just said. “And I am not sleep-talking!” he added quickly.

“Yes you were,” Hiromitsu continued smiling. “You were just grumbling most of the time but I could pick out a few words. Wow, beautiful, and something that suspiciously sounded like Aya.”

“Of course not!” Taisuke replied, and it was, maybe, just a bit too hurriedly to be considered as an innocent denial, especially judging by how Hiromitsu’s smile turned into a smirk.

“Oh sure,” Hiromitsu said patronizingly as he grabbed the magazine that had fallen to his lap.

It was already too late when Taisuke remembered what was on the specific page of the magazine he was perusing before he fell asleep and was therefore also too late to grab the magazine back from the older guy. Hiromitsu had already seen it and the guy had formed conclusions out of what he saw, judging by the look of mixed amusement and mischief evident in his face.

“Oomasa Aya-chan does look good in a wedding dress huh?” he told him meaningfully and still with a smirk, he raised the magazine and showed him the opened page featuring Aya wearing some of the wedding dresses she had personally designed. “Perhaps you were dreaming of her wedding with you as the groom.”

Taisuke could feel the blush rising to his cheeks and ears. “I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about!” he still claimed as he tried not to look at the magazine, trying his best to put off the images of her walking towards him in her wedding dress, at least for as long as he and Hiromitsu are sitting in the van.

He didn’t attain much success though as the smiling face of Aya floated in his mind. Next to him, Hiromitsu crooned “Sure! Like I’m going to believe that!”
-----THE END-----

Happy Family (Miura Haruma, Toda Erika, Takaki Yuya, pair:HarumaxErika)

When Miura Haruma opened his eyes, he found himself very confused.

The last thing he remembered was getting in a car with Takaki Yuya, after a late-night dinner with their co-Gokusen alumnas. The group was supposed to continue their dinner drinking elsewhere but Haruma received a call from his manager that he needed to be on site for a re-shoot.

It was for that reason that Yuya volunteered to drop him off to the shooting site; he needed to be well rested, and rid of the alcohol, before he starts that shoot.

But he isn’t at the shoot. He wasn’t even in Yuya’s car. For some reason, he’s on a bench in a park, and by the looks of it, it’s late afternoon.

There were a lot of sakura trees surrounding him, the flowers in full bloom. A lot of people are in the park actually, none of whom even bothered by the sight of him. Well, none except one.

One of the kids playing a few feet in front of him turned around and waved at him, a girl. And Haruma couldn’t help but jump at the sight. The girl is about 5 to 6 years old, but that isn’t exactly the surprising part. It’s because the girl looks like him!

Well, not exactly like him. She had very distinctive eyes quite unlike his own and her lips are a lot more pouty and pretty than his. Over all though, she bore a striking resemblance to him. It’s as though she could be his daughter.

Even he was surprised at that. Daughter?!

He jumped too when he heard a familiar female voice speak next to him.

“She’s grown up really pretty, right?” Toda Erika smiled.

Haruma could only really stare at the woman as he swallowed hard. He had harbored quite a huge crush on her actually that he wasn’t even sure himself how he managed to work through a whole series with her without slipping. She’s just so beautiful.

And then Erika turned to him with that smile still on her lips.

“Don’t you think?”

Looking away from her hastily, Haruma turned around and caught sight of the kid again. “Yeah, yes she is.”

He heard Erika chuckle as she anchored her hand on his arm.

“Yeah. I think she’s going to give grief to her daddy when she enters her teens. You’d have to chase a lot of suitors away from your daughter when the time comes.”

Haruma looked around quickly to Erika, his eyes wide in disbelief. Their daughter?!

Before he could say anything though, they heard the kid calling out and his attention was once again drawn.

“Mama! Papa!”

“Papa?!” Haruma blinked.
-----

“You awake?!”

Those were the words that greeted Haruma when he opened his eyes again. This time, he’s in Yuya’s car and it’s still dark. Judging by the building next to them, they’re already at the Ikuta Studios where his manager said he needed to be.

That’s when Haruma realized he just had a dream. A beautiful one.

“We’re here!” he exclaimed as he tried to pull himself back to reality. “I can’t believe I dozed off.”

“Yeah,” Yuya said right next to him. “You were dreaming too.”

Considering that he knew the idol to be quite a nosy character off screen despite the two of them being friends, Haruma should have known better than to bite the guy’s bait. But since he’s still reeling back from that dream of his, his mind is still hazy.

“What do you mean?”

“You were mumbling,” Yuya said, turning around to face him and by then Haruma realized his error. It’s too late though since Yuya is not going to be stopped. “Most of it was not understandable but towards the end, you said ‘Papa?’. Now, it’s either you were asking your father something or you were dreaming about you being called ‘Papa?’ and it confusing you. Now since the prior is highly unlikely, I think it’s the latter, isn’t it?”

“No!”

“You’re lying!” the guy doubled down in laughter. “You just looked to your right before you replied so you’re absolutely lying!”

“What does that have to do with anything?!” Haruma ended up exclaiming.

“Everything!” Yuya grinned as the guy shook his head. It was only by then did Haruma realize that he’d just admitted that Yuya’s right.

“Hmmm,” Yuya continued as Haruma buried his head in his hands. “I don’t remember you saying anything about dating anyone so who’s the mother of your dream child?”

Haruma had just looked up and was about to open his mouth to stop the guy when Yuya exclaimed “Wait! Didn’t you and Toda Erika-san had a daughter by the end of your drama?!”

“No,” Haruma lied, trying to stop the guy from prying any further.

“Yes you did!” Yuya chuckled. “You were dreaming of her, didn’t you?!”

Haruma opened his mouth, initially to deny but then he realized that it wasn’t going to do any good. “I have to go, I’m late,” he said instead.

Before he could open the door though, Yuya said “They’re going to have a field day when they hear about this!”

Haruma froze before he turned to Yuya and said seriously “If you tell them, I’m going to kill you.”

Yuya looked unfazed. “You do know that I have the numbers of at least 3 men who’s going to enjoy frying you when they hear about your crush on Toda Erika-san, right?”

Haruma looked confused at first before he blanched. “You’re dead!” he told him before he got out of the car. He could still hear Yuya’s hearty chuckle as he walked away. “Or I’m going to be,” he added as an afterthought.

He couldn’t help but sigh at his present predicament but then the image of Erika smiling at him with ‘their’ daughter in his hand popped up and he couldn’t help but smile again.
