Need a justification for how you found and hired your retainers? Need a retainer who has been helpfully chosen (and using simple training methods) encouraged to not wonder about your pale complextion, your odd hours or the fact you never seem to eat?
Need someone who could have arranged for transportion of people or things on the sly? Need to have had a short term contract on equipment, people, or facilities for a scheme?
Simply want someone who runs a staff agency to provide temp. staff who won't ask too many questions about the boss (for all those allies, businesses, and contacts)?
Give me ties.
My second primary PC will be a provider of resources - human resources placement, temp hires, short term contracts for buildings, facilities, and general equipment. Need your ghouls to have been able to arrange a late night rental of a backhoe? I can do it. Need to have had a warehouse for a one off meeting with those dirty [insert opposition here]? I can have arranged it. Need a retainer and/or ghoul and don't want to pay the insane costs of an Invictus Groom (or deal with who knows what weird oaths their stable has to swear)? The PC'll be unaligned and really doesn't give a rats ass about Covenant when it comes business.
Anything you need for equipment, facilities, or people, that's this PC's aim to provide. I can be paying you back for a favor or earning a favor on you, hell, I could even be earning a favor on you by helping you pay back a favor for someone else.
Now gimme ties, damnit.
**Sure, I'll do other venues, but I'm not looking for best buddy, I'm not signing any Lost Oaths, I'm not giving a mage anything that could be used to toast me from a distance. But if you just need an IC business that provides your IC business with all those temp flunkies in the typing pool? Hell yeah.
