A/N: This is based on this photo. It’s been a while since I last wrote a JongKey fic.
He doesn’t know how he started to fall for him just by watching him sleep. He scans his features; that innocent-looking face, those half-parted lips, his steady breathing. He thinks that he is an angel that God sent for him from above.
But Jonghyun’s terror starts when Key begins having nightmares. Seeing him being so vulnerable, it feels like he needs to protect the latter. He’s feeling sad and disappointed to himself that all he could do for him is to embrace him, assuring him that he’s there. He will hold him securely, trying to be his superman. He will not leave his side and will not even try to blink an eye until Key will be back to his dreamland.

One day, Key had consecutive bad dreams. He was so scared that once he closed his eyes, he will only see horror. He looks around for Jonghyun but the latter is still out. He wants to wake up his other members but he thought it would so selfish of him. He tries to go back to sleep but the thought of seeing some scary scenes and such. He decides to not sleep even though he must sleep because they have a flight early in the morning.
Jonghyun quietly opens the door of their dorm, only to stumble in the end. Key immediately looks around to see a dinosaur lying in his stomach on the floor.
“What happened to you?” He asks with much concern. He reaches out for him to help him get up. “I slipped.” Jonghyun shyly confessed. Key went back to his so called space in the living room’s couch and continued reading his book.
“Aren’t you going to sleep Kibum?”
He looks up, seeing a worried Jonghyun in front of him. ‘Should I tell I’m having nightmares or should I lie instead?’ Key’s thoughts battle inside his mind. ‘It’s not cool to admit having bad dreams and it's really embarrassing so I guess I’ll just lie.’
“I’m not really… sleepy.” He tries to avoid eye contact with him. He ignores his presence and continued with his book.
“You’re lying.” Jonghyun says. Key is so surprised that he dropped his book. Of course he is but how could he even tell? “Are you having nightmares again Kibummie?”
‘Kibummie?’ He instantly blushes, hearing his pet name. But before he could even nod his head, Jonghyun walks out of the living room. He goes to their bedroom and gets a blanket and pillows. Key watches him with awe as Jonghyun settles himself beside him. He wraps the blanket around Key and pulls him closer to his body. “W-what are you trying to do?” Key finally had the chance to speak.
“I always hold you like this when you’re having trouble in your sleep. I’ll keep an eye on you so just take a rest. We have an early flight tomorrow.” He pats his back and hums a lullaby. ‘I’m like his baby. He's doing this for me?’ Key thought to himself. A smile finally creep his face and he slowly went off to dreamland.
“Good night Jonghyun-hyung.” Key mumbles. “I’ll see you in my dreams.” Jonghyun’s smile is very visible. He strokes his hair and continued to hum a song. “Sweet dreams Kibummie. Saranghae.”
