*scratches at the door pathetically*

I didn't really realize until now just how much my life has come to revolve around AO3. With the site completely swamped and the maintainers struggling to get it fixed, I'm left with being able to access it only on occasion.

It's effing killing me! There's fics there that I can't read! *sob*

OMG I knoooooooooooooow

I wonder what caused the sudden upswell in traffic. Is it people abandoning FFN? (I hope) Or new folks coming over as we finally reach proper social critical mass?

Holy crap! Those are insane expansion numbers! I'm glad they've got the cash to get more servers once they get the needed infrastructure in place. thank you for the link, I hadn't seen this one yet (*checks date* heh posted today)

There was an LJ link too, but I like DW better:D

Yeah, it's seriously insane. I think it's like one of those trifecta moments where a bunch of things came together at once. Apparently Avengers fandom is also driving the numbers up.

You are welcome!

OMG SO MUCH AVENGERS. I know that and Korra have been my go-to reasons to hit up AO3 and browse, and there have been a ton of awesome recs on het-reccers (also, omg, I have been seeing fics with something like 300+ kudos on them. That's NUTS)

Um, yeah. I'm not an Avengers fan. I just do Merlin. But I know lots of people are very happy with Avengers.

300 kudos on a fic? Damn. That's impressive.

*nodnod* tis all cool ^^

Yeah, I've never seen numbers like that on a fic before. Closest have probably been the Yultide stuff and I think I personally saw *maybe* half. Could be there are fics with more and I haven't seen 'em of course.

Drastically Redefining Protocol has 280 kudos.

AO3 is just not cooperating, so I can't look at see how many Pairing Pendragon/Merlin has, but DRP is a huge Merlin story and it's got 280.

ah. I'm not in any of the bigger fandoms on AO3, so I'd never seen a count that high except on event stuff, like Yuletide.

I am not sure Merlin is a "big" fandom, but I guess it's big enough?

*sobs and clings*

It might be. FFN is cracking down on the Mature rated fics, yanking the ones that have explicit material, or so I've been told (which, in all honesty, I can't really complain about that - FFN has it clearly stated in their rules that they don't allow explicit material on the site, so people shouldn't be posting it there in the first place). With that happening, people might be crossing over to AO3 where explicit material is welcome (thank goodness).

I know het_bigbang is going to host the resulting stories on AO3, so that means the participants need to get their own accounts there if they don't already have one, so there's that too.

*nods* That's quite true. Many of the fandoms on there are growing at a pretty steady rate, and I don't know if they expected the site to grow as quickly as it has.

Yeah, and FFN is having some crackdowns, which apparently has meant that a lot of the adult writers are abandoning ship and headed for AO3, which is adding to the traffic as well. People were talking about it, but it's apparently happening that they're actually moving.

Fortunately Het_Bigbang has awhile to go before we have to think about getting everyone accounts to AO3. I imagine by they things will be more normalized and we'll be able to give everyone invites if they don't have them yet.

If not, then IR, PB and I will think of something XD. But that's a problem for future!self
