Mother and I decorated the house for the holidays today. The following things made me want to scream:
1. Took forever to find the angel that goes on top of the tree, as well as any number of ornaments. I thought we'd packed all of this stuff away last year in a way that would make it easy to get it back out. Apparently not.
2. The angel no longer lights up like it should when we plug it in. Will have to see if we can find new bulbs that fit.
3. Found two strands of indoor/outdoor lights. Tested both by plugging them in separately and both worked. One became the star in our front window. I took the second strand outside to wrap around one of the columns on our porch (in the freezing cold and snow, the latter of which I had to sweep off the porch first). When I plugged it in to the porchlight and stuck my hand inside to flip the switch, it didn't work. I took the lightbulb out of the porchlight and tried again, it didn't work. I pulled the extension cord over to the other plugs on the porch, it didn't work. Unwound said lights and brought them back inside and tested them again. They didn't work. I thought about throwing something breakable against the wall just to hear the glass shatter. I hate lights.
Must keep reminding myself of what this time of year is about. Must not forget true meaning. Must not get homicidal over the little details...
*continues to eye anything made of glass*
