Day 21: A recipe
Ooh, a chance to share a family delicacy!

Sauerkraut Balls

1 lb. sausage
2 T. chopped onion
½ tsp. garlic salt/powder
3 handfuls of squeezed kraut (about 1 can)
6 oz. cream cheese
1 C. bread crumbs
1 egg
½ C. milk
2 T. flour

Fry sausage, onion and garlic salt. Drain grease. Add kraut and cream cheese. Refrigerate over night. Form into balls the next morning and roll in flour egg and milk mixture, then in bread crumbs. Deep fry.

My grandmother got the recipe from a girl she worked with, years ago. She started making them for family get-togethers and they were an immediate hit. Now that she’s older, she only makes them twice a year, for Thanksgiving and Christmas, so she passed the recipe on to her kids and anyone else in the family that wanted it, namely me.

Day 12: Who had the best wedding?

Michaela Quinn/Byron Sully, Doctor Quinn, Medicine Woman

This one took quite a bit of thinking on my part, because most of my ships go down in flames of angst and woe (all the PTB hate me and want me to suffer, I suppose), instead of getting married and living happily ever after. Then I remembered these two. This show was one of the few things I bonded with my paternal cousins over -- we all three adored this show as kids. Jane Seymour and Joe Lando were amazing in their parts, and built a great relationship for their characters over the years, and actually got to have a wedding. And that two-part episode was great, with the usual interfering but well-meaning mother, bitchy sister, wedding present surprises, jackass soldiers getting whacked over the head so he can't make trouble, and even more. It was awesome.
