So I heard from my mother today at home -- apparently one of the jobs I applied for gave me a call and left a message on the answering machine. I called them back and in turn had to leave a message on their voicemail. I haven't gotten the job by any means, but hey, getting a phone call is an encouraging sign, yes?
My only quibble is that it was the job I was kind of hoping I wouldn't have to take. It's only sixteen hours a week, and the pay's practically minimum wage. This other job that I applied to at a different branch of the library system pays nearly 25% more and is twenty hours a week. Plus, it's a lot closer to my grandmother's, so it would be quite easy to pull off, work and stay at grandma's and spend what other time I can at home with my mother.
If I don't get any other calls about the other jobs I applied to, then I'll take it. The pay and hours might suck, but the job will get my foot in the door as an actual employee. I can always spring forward from there.
*crosses fingers*
