Arthur/Merlin/Morgana: they both feel her slipping away
Notes: Spoilers for 2.03 The Nightmare Begins.

~*~

Morgana is looking more and more toward the horizon, toward the unknown beyond the walls of Camelot. Merlin isn't blind to it, and neither is Arthur. They had begun to really notice it after Morgana's brief time with the Druids, but Merlin thinks that it might have been going on even before then. They both feel her slipping away from them.

Neither of them discusses it of course, not even when they are off by themselves, hunting or in the solitude of Arthur's chambers. Merlin thinks that it is Arthur's way of dealing with it -- if he doesn't admit to it out loud, then it won't happen, it won't really exist. Merlin might be inclined to speak about it, but when he sees the look in Arthur's eyes when Merlin knows he is thinking about it, he finds himself keeping his silence.

Instead, they content themselves with doing their best to draw Morgana back from wherever her mind goes in those times. They each have their own ways of doing so. Merlin's hands glide over her body, brushing lightly over her shoulders, her breasts, her stomach, his lips following a similar path. He stokes the fire in her, and when his fingers and lips come to the secret spot between her legs, her green eyes sharpen and that's how Merlin knows that Morgana has come back to them.

Arthur, however, prefers a more indirect method. He and Morgana have always competed over anything and everything, it is just how they are with one another. Such behavior does not end outside the bedchambers. They channel it by competing over Merlin, who can keep his attention, or draw out the loudest moans. It is this behavior that Arthur utilizes to gain Morgana's attention.

He pushes Merlin down and follows, pressing him into the mattress and rubbing their cocks together. That alone is enough make Merlin groan, but Arthur doesn't stop there. His hands and lips seem to be everywhere, his neck, his chest, everywhere. Merlin trembles and moans beneath Arthur's touch, and when his hand flails to his left, where Morgana is, she is there to grasp it. She scoots closer, a challenging glint in her eyes, and that is how they know she is with them again.

It is how it works between them, but Merlin isn't blind. It's becoming harder and harder to call Morgana back. Her mind is leaving them, and will soon be gone. The only question that remains is how long it will be before her body follows. He doesn't know how to speak about it, Arthur won't acknowledge it, and Morgana's eyes grow dimmer and dimmer with each passing day.

Merlin doesn't know what to do, and so he can only do what he has been doing -- keeping quiet and drawing her back however he can. He just knows it won't last much longer.

I liked how they both tried to keep Morgana with them any way they could.
