Well, today was kind of weird, for lack of a better word. I don't know what it was, just really average i suppose. I had to babysit, unfortunately. Three boys, two girls. The baby boy spit peas and cereal all over me so i now have a sticky green element on my sweater...stylish. I babysat last night too. That was a lot more fun. Four girls. Had icecream, visited my childhood by playing Polly Pockets, which are much cooler than they use to be; went outside, watched Charis beat her sister with a stick so she promptly visited the corner of her room. Two oldest went to bed and the younger two and I danced to the Tarzan soundtrack. Overall, not to bad for getting $21.27. Who the hell pays such an odd number like 21.27? Don't know.
So this past Saturday, Sherwood and I went to a funeral. My friend from church had died. Her name was Erica. She was only 19 and was an only child. Sherwood had met her only twice but i'm really glad he came. There were tons of people there and my dad did a good job leading the thinger. We then proceeded to lunch at a hotel. Sherwood got to meet a bunch of my church friends and they all got to make fun of his name. Then we robbed a few flower arrangements and went home. All in all, a good day seeing as it was a funeral.
It got me thinking though. Just how short life is and how sucky life can be going but you can still see life as a positive aspect. And when i mean sucky life, it isn't like 'my parents are assholes' or 'my week has been awful', it's more of my friend's life like 'i'm dieing but I have lived a great life so far and people love me'. So when you are freaking out about your most recent test score, a grudge you've been holding against a friend or being yelled at by your parents, just remember how lucky you are to have parents and friends and how your current problems mean absolutely nothing in the great scheme of things. People will always have it worse than you do.
Stop your griping, step back, look at your life, be thankful and breathe deep; you're alive.
