got my pictures from my fieldtrip today after only a week of waiting...
these are from where the fissures in the earth's crust are trapping water, but it's so hot, it just comes back up as steam
these are the people that i went with.. they turned out to be pretty cool, even though they're older.
just pretty pictures:
this is a panoramic of the crater on top of cinder cone. the guy is georgio.
pretty panoramic of view from lassen peak
blue mountains -- i haven't messed with the color of this picture, like i did with some others. this one os 100 percent real
vulcan's eye: a plugged lava tube coming out of lassen peak
tree bark: geoffrey pine maybe?
spatter cone
remnants of the ginormous volcano that was there and then exploded and left this huge crater which is now home to other volcanoes like lassen peak and cinder cone
another cooler spatter cone
pahoehoe lava - more drippy and viscous than a'a or blocky
chaos crags: the site of a huge mass wasting event
lava flow from cinder cone
the great lassen peak. the small colorful things on the right of the center are people from my group. they look so tiny in comparison.
lassen peak; in foreground, painted dunes
glacial striations
crater on cinder cone, again.
panoramic shot of clouds from lassen peak
cinder cone. it's made of ash and silt. so two steps forward, one step back. and i climbed that mofo!
