Feast of the Virgin of Guadalupe

Dec 09, 2007 12:07

Today, Dec. 9th, is the anniversary of the first siting of the Virgin of
Guadalupe in 1531, who appeared to a native man and requested that a
church in her honor be built on the site (in Mexico.) She is the patron saint of Mexico. (Today is also the New Moon by the way).

She is a protectress, and has been called "the first Mestizaa"
the first true combination of Spanish/native belief/religious systems,
and a clear representation of the Divine Feminine/Female.

On Wed. Dec. 12th is her feast day. I will be hosting
a small get together to drink Mexican Hot Chocolate
(probably choc soy milk w/ Cinnamon in it) and talk a wee bit
~maybe in Spanish! about this particular representation of Mary.

Call or email me if you want more details.
