Online RPing
Not the Tao - though I'm thinking about writing another Essay sometime soon.
Can't say I'm not disappointed by the bite-sized entertainment needs of today's generation of RPers and the like. They, also, have been swept up by the tiny sound-bite of entertainment or controlling themselves. The frantic nature of not sitting down for longer than two minutes and hammering out something that really is worth-while. Though, this is not a new thing. I was sitting around Superbad yesterday and just looking at things that have been around since 1997. Since before I even entered High-School.
Where am I going with this?
Well, everyone wants the new shiny. People (for some reason - it's a bloated and overpriced piece of shit) love Digichat. And so, with the new shiny Dark Providence (which, by the way Icons in the Foyer broke) people have been fleeing there. Somewhat like a flock of locusts to go munch on the new panarama.
A lot of these people are pretty ignorant that there are more than just the all mighty digi-chats. And quite a few people are looking for a place to settle since the bastion of 'Creative Authority' (/sarcasm) the White Wolf Mods closed down. They went to Wanton Wicked for a time. And all the problems there, that were manageable (let's be honest) were simply exacerbated.
People wanted power now, they wanted everything becuase they came from the Mods. A place I never played, will never play, and don't give two shites for. They didn't make their characters to be power characters. And even those toxic players who were part of the game apart from the Locusts coming into town would bitch but ultimately they would do nothing. In any case, the opportunists, the idiots and the assholes all now coalesce at DP and this is why I will not be joining that game.
Besides, Digichat is a piece of overbloated POS. There are more than two chats out there. More like 15 games across the internets sans OpenRPG. And I play on two games. That's enough for me. DP? I don't care. Once people start not to get their way, because the Euphoria of a new chat on the ST side or the newness comes off - you'll start to see mass bitching.
I'll start the popcorn.
