Yesterday, I was a lobbyist. Well, as a concerned citizen, I wanted to lobby some of my representatives on a bunch of issues. And we got a lot of other people to the state capitol as well. Nothing like seeing a whole slew of canary yellow t-shirts to intimidate the State Committees into voting the right way; even if the final vote was really, very slow.
In retrospect, it was a good time. Weird how the committees don't have t heir own rooms and rather meet just outside the doors to the House Floor to 'huddle up' and do their votes. It's also really funny how the professional lobbyists are hovering not too far behind the 'gangs' of Representatives.
A lot of young people work there (when did I stop considering myself one of these?) wearing suits that don't quite fit them. It brought out a chuckle or two out of me. Though, considering three Representatives in the state of Connecticut are twenty-six years old (Sup Middletown), you never can tell anymore. Makes me kind of want to run for office. If they can get in - so can I. Well, if I moved away from the Hartford Democratic Machine.
I nearly had to go run from
Kelvin Roldan considering he pretty much nearly had me arrested on Election Night. I didn't quite want him recognizing me. That would have been awkward in the supreme. >:3 Also, sup Hartford Democratic Machine.
I only got to speak to one Senator and one Representative at length. Though, it was also a session day so they were always running and out voting on various and sundry items such as:
Paintball Safety.
Idling Cars
Armed forces using their phones in the car
Methadone Medicare Coverage
You know, the really important issues. :|
