Saints, Dolls, and Chocolate Valentines

ABOVE:  I collect old Catholic statues and icons.  Saint Mary sits on my fireplace hearth. I love her blue color.

What a week I've had.  Valentine's Day was uneventful for the most part.  I did manage to make some Molten Lava Cakes.

More photos behind cut....

Mark and I went to dinner at a wonderful restaurant the night before.  I  made the mistake of ordering the signature dish of rabbit.  I couldn't eat it. I kept flashing Giovanni, and decided rabbit is too exotic for my tastes.  I bought roses for myself on Friday--Mama don't pay no $100 for roses simply because the day is labeled with the number 14.

So, I have been cooking my behind off, and I'll be going post happy with photos and recipes soon.  Believe it or not, I'm interested in cooking a few vegetarian dishs and balancing out my love of rich foods with my love of healthy foods.  I've been exercising semi-religiously (is that possible?), and I really want to take care of my health--especially my heart.  Heart Disease is like a train wreck waiting to happen in my family.  I avoid trans fats, which is a big one, but I'd also like to incorporate the 5 vegetables and fruits per day plan.

I've been playing with my camera and snapping a few photos of my vintage eclectic collection of retro and vintage items.  "One man's junk..."

I bought these Mexican dolls around the city at estate sales.  For some reason they remind me of Mark and I.  Maybe it's because they're very fragile and a little banged up.
