Solvang

The only eventful thing that occurred this weekend was the Solvang Ride.  The bike ride itself wasn't too bad, except for this one hill that lied to me! I got to what I thought was the top wasn't, and it kept going uphill! The horror! But in all seriousness, the ride was exceptionally good (minus riding at 45 degree weather in the morning, with no sunlight).

I finished the ride in about 3 hours and 40 minutes.  It isn't bad for me, and it is a vast improvement over my Rosarito-Ensenada ride time.  In all actuality, I think I should have continued on with the Metric Century riders.  The course probably had more hills, which would have been more challenging for me.  I do not possess a lot of strength in my legs yet, so it is hard for me to go up hill.  Most of the time I end up standing up and pedaling because, for the life of me, I just cannot do it sitting down.  I digress.  I ended up somewhat sprinting the last ten miles of the ride.

Anyway, I'm seriously considering doing the Solvang Century Ride in March.  That's about 100 miles (usually a little more, like 105).  If I do end up signing up for the ride, I will have to train with many more hill climbs. I also want to commute to work after the new year, to get myself prepared for the event.  The only concern I have is finding a real bike seat.  The one I have right now isn't bad, but if I opt to do the century ride, I will most definitely need to find one that gives me more "comfort." And I will need to get fitted for my bike.

So many things to consider.

On the way back from Solvang I saw Jenn. Which was awesome. Unfortunately I gorged myself with pizza. Bad Frances, bad.

That's my weekend which, aside from the ride, was pretty uneventful.
