Saturday sure was an interesting night. As well as seeing two of the best bands I've seen in a long time, I did bad things with a rock star(ish) on a tourbus. With Jimmi, one of guitarists from Hope of the States, actually. Hee hee... I didn't know he was in the band, I couldn't see him from where I was standing, I just thought he was really cute. I've got his phone number too...
But anyway. They were great live, an amazing band, and I totally recommend you all go and listen to their stuff, its beautiful. Bit Mercury Rev, only better.
The support band were incredible too, a little Cardiff band called Tetsuo, who sound like the Pixies mixed with Fugazi and a bit of the Stooges thrown in too. They have totally restored my faith in Welsh music, I wasn't sure what to expect, since the last band I went to see without knowing anythign about turned out to be Jarcrew, one of my worst live experiences. Ever. (Okay, time to fess up now: The Tetsuo drummer just happenes to be one of my friends, but they are really good, and I had no idea if they would be good or pants).
I also have a horrible cold and sore throat. I think at least some of the throat pain is down to smoking Camels on Saturday night, possibly the world's most unpleasant cigarettes.
