So I always get nervous about birthdays. I'm sure I've explained this. You wait all year for it and you only get one day. So if it's bad, it's 1093802 times worse than a normal bad day.
Luckily, I just had one of my best birthdays ever.
After sleeping in for the perfect amount of time (until 9 am), I took a long shower. My mom and I went to Costco to get food for my get-together and then went to some stores to find a birthday present. She wants to get me a nice piece of jewelry so I'm looking for the perfect one. I found some really nice ones today but I'm going to keep looking.
After shopping, we met up with my dad and went to California Pizza Kitchen for an amazing lunch. We had warm spinach-artichoke dip, a wild mushroom pizza, miso salad, and apple crisp for dessert. And I had a deliciously refreshing frozen strawberry lemonade. I missed having my brother there, but it was definitely fun and suchhhhh good food.
Once we came home I jumped in the car and headed to pick up Tracy from work, along with some propane. Did that and came home. Gradually, Zac, Colleen, Michael, Amber, April, Lindsay M., Zoe, and Amanda all came over. We talked, played games, ate really good burgers, played more games, and Zoe sang me an amazingly sweet song that she wrote for me. I definitely teared up and definitely got a video of it. Yarrow/Luke called from Alaska and Jennie called from India and it was so good to hear both of their voices. The night ended with a campfire in our backyard firepit, roasting marshmallows, playing guitar, and singing songs. It was really lovely.
I don't know if I say this enough but I have some really amazing friends. They are so nice and sweet and thoughtful, not to mention all the other things like funny and interesting. I strive to be like them and hope they know how much I love and care about them. Days like birthdays remind you that it's never good to dwell on the people who forget about you or cause you strife. Because when you have people in your life that do really amazing things for you, or even just little wonderful things, that's really all that matters.
If today is any indication of the rest of my year, then I can't wait.
