weekend wizarding

2nd to last weekend in D.C.!
Friday after the zoo, Kendra and I decided to play. We went to Sally's Beauty Supply to get necessary hair tools. I chickened out on dying my hair with the serious stuff, but Kendra got hair extensions. Human hair extentions. Then we were driving to CVS and she mentioned her car wasn't running right. I asked her when was the last time she got her oil changed and she said she didn't know. Well, we excellently deduced from her odometer and the faded sticker on her windowshield that she was 15,000 miles overdue for an oil change. Hilarious. We quickly pulled into a gas station and they demanded, basically, that we leave the car there. So we did and walked to CVS, where I bought some normal hairdye in Chocolate Cherry and then to Great Harvest where we got cookies.

After picking up the car, we went back to Kendra's apartment. She has a kitten. I was smitten. With the kitten.
The hair extensions proved to be wayyyy harder than we expected.
The hair dying went well, though. Except in typical my-hair-doesn't-hold-dye fashion, I washed it this morning and now it's faded a lot, almost back to my normal color. Which is really annoying. I guess I'll just have to suck it up and get it professionally done. Does anyone else have this problem? I buy semi-permanent dye, but it only lasts a couple washes! It's disappointing.

Yesterday Jennie and I went to the Natural History Museum. It's my favorite. I liked the dinosaur bones and the gems the best. And I went to a party at my aunt's house. There were a lot of Persians there. I didn't understand a lot of what they were talking about because they were speaking Farsi. And then they got all confused when I didn't speak Farsi. Whatever.

Big week this week...field trip to Front Royal, VA to see the Conservation Research Center on Wednesday, then off to Connecticut to visit Yale on Thurdsay/Friday.

I want a kitten. Another one. I wonder what the chances are of getting one when I get home...
