Headed up to The Church of the Holy Rude because I didn't get to see it the day before. Lovely old church. King James.... VI? Well King James I of England was crowned there when he was still an infant after his mom Mary Queen of Scots was deposed.

Then I headed to the bus station and up to the National Wallace Monument. WOW. A tower on top of the crag where Wallace supposedly directed the Battle at Stirling Bridge where he and Moray routed the British. It's 246 spiraling steps up to the top, broken by three galleries off the steps on the way up. The first is about the life of Wallace, the second is a gallery with the busts of other Scottish heroes or famous figures. The third is about the building of the monument. Then you get to the top and the views are AMAZING. But it was very, very windy and chilly up there.

After getting a bit dizzy going back down the stairs I headed back into town and then wandered around and had a bite to eat before catching my train to Dundee. The B&B in Dundee is really nice! Very convenient to the station with large rooms and very comfortable.

Alas Dundee was bust. I wanted to go see Glamis Castle. But the bus service there and back is the pits! So I took an earlier train to Perth for Scone Palace. Got to the B&B in Perth (it has a bath!) and then went to catch my bus. I missed the 1pm so I had to catch the 2pm. Had lunch and then caught my bus. It dropped me off at the main entrance and I had a lovely, albeit very wet (it was rainy most of the day) walk for 1/2 a mile to the Palace. I asked about buses back and then got my ticket and headed in. Very lovely palace. And the 2nd in line for the title and the palace....? HOTTIE! Alas born in 1988....... ;.; Saw the Moot Hill where the lairds and chieftains of Scotland gathered for the crowning of the first king to be crowned at Scone. They all brought a boot full of the soil of their lands and dumped it out and stood on it to declare loyalty to the king, thus creating this artificial hill. Moot is another word for 'boot'. The grounds were lovely, but because it was so chilly and rainy, I didn't explore too much. Caught my bus back to town and had dinner at a lovely Chinese restaurant before coming back here and telling ya'll all about it! ^_^

Tomorrow.... Dunnotar Castle and into the Highlands!
