A lovely poem I wish I had written

Choices

if i can't do
what i want to do
then my job is to not
do what i don't want
to do

it's not the same thing
but it's the best i can
do

if i can't have
what i want then
my job is to want
what i've got
and be satisfied
that at least there
is something more
to want

since i can't go
where i need
to go then i must go
where the signs point
though always understanding
parallell movement
isn't lateral

when i can't express
what i really feel
i practice feeling
what i can express
and none of it is equal
i know
but that's why mankind
alone among the mammals
learns to cry

-Nikki Giovanni (wish i could take credit...)

well, that's about all i have for today. my life is OH so exciting these days. oooh! an update: i got a job! woot woot! i'm a hostess at tejas cafe and bar. i'd rather be a waitress, but... c'est la vie. you know, i think they've reformatted this site since the last time i was on here... anywho. work is alright, but hard on the back and the feet. i feel like i'm forgetting something... i'm hungry. but no, that wasn't it. here's something my dear pal sarah showed me today... it was a quote from her self-portrait journal...
a kiss is a lovely trick invented by nature to stop speech when words become superfluous.
i don't know who said it, but that's not really important. ok, still hungry. ttfn. *muah*
