Well, I just got back from Illinois a couple of hours ago. My little brother has graduated from Navy Basic Training and is now in Pensacola, Florida for 13 weeks for school. He's going to be Aviation Support. Meaning that he'll be working on planes and stuff. I'm really proud of him and it was great to see him. The ceremony was awesome. It was really something to see. We got to see him in his dress whites (the summer dress uniform) then he was allowed to wear his regular summer uniform. I want his sailor hat. ^^;
The Navy Training Center is right outside of Chicago, but sadly we didn't really go into Chicago because my dad didn't want to drive through it and nobody but me really wanted to go. >.< I'm kinda disappointed. I mean, we never go anywhere, and here we were, right outside of Chicago, and we didn't even see any of it. I understand that my dad was worried because he didn't know where we were going and Chicago's huge and traffic's crazy, but we could have taken the train. But no one wanted to be bothered. Grrr... We didn't do a whole lot honestly. We went to this big shopping mall, a plaza, and hung around the hotel and that was about it. We went to a couple of restaurants, nothing major. There were some Japanese restaurants that I wanted to try, but surprise, surprise, nobody else did, so I didn't get to do that either. *sigh* It's frustrating when no one else in your family is adventurous but you. I want to try new things and see places, but the rest of my family could care less. >.<
We found my poor little hamster dead when we got home. I was kind of expecting it, so it's not a huge shock, but I'm still a little sad. I don't know what was wrong with her. I cleaned her cage on Wednesday and when I picked her up she was really skinny. She wasn't eating and I don't know why. She had plenty of fresh food and treats and water. *sigh* No more hamsters for me. I'm sticking with my piggies and my cat.
The stray kitten that we took in is still causing mayhem. My cat hates him. He's into everything. He has so much energy and he eats like he never gets fed. He's too much sometimes. We can't give him away either. He's completely attached to my dad and our dog. >.< Luckily he's cute...sometimes. ^^;
My dream of going to Japan just became more realistic. Since my brother's in the military, he can take military flights to any Naval base in the world for $25 and he can take 3 people with him. There are 2 bases in Japan. ^-^ He's so taking me since he wants to go too. The only downfall is that you're not guaranteed a seat. If something happens and the plane's needed for something, you're stuck. But we're still going to give it a shot one day, hopefully soon. I hoping for next summer, but we'll see. Still, I'm excited. I'd better start working on my Japanese! ^-^
aquamarine I miss you! Why did you have to move so far away!? Now we can't get together or anything. *tear* Call me! Or I'll call you...maybe. You know how I am with calling people. ^^; But, yes, I miss you!
