Okay here it goes, with the movie "Twilight" coming out soon how can I not even go into this rant.
The theme of vampires in fiction has been done to death so many times that NOTHING original has come out of it. Most of anything now a days is glorified fan fiction in the vein of either: Anne Rice, Anita Blake, various crap by White Wolf authors (that is more than likely plagarized or bastardized work of someone else).
OOOOO lets have a retarded romance between a teenage mortal and a teenage looking vampire?? Remind anyone of a WoD game they were in?? It should, it come sup in damn near every other chronicle (especially modern nights ones). Vampires disliking Werewolves?? ::gasps:: How many times has THAT been done...::eyeroll::
Now for those that would say "well you haven't read the books so...." STFU, I know hackery when I see it. A lot of people these days are impressed by shoddy portrayls of vampirism. I for one, from what I COULD stomach of the writing style of these novels, was NOT impressed at all. Could I do better? No, probably not, BUT I openly admit what I write is fan fiction and that I'm a hack, I dont' try to pass off to some ass clown of a publisher that somehow what I write is avant garde or that I'm worthy of a publishing deal. It just amazes me the crap people will look at and go..."oh it's so good" when all it is is repackaged regurgitation of stuff taht's been DONE TO DEATH (and usually badly).
Just what the world needs Dawson's Creek with vampires....::gags::
