Over the weekends...

Attended (and helped out) at my friend's wedding on Saturday!

Was initially apprehensive cos I've absolutely ZERO experience and idea what to do and I've not found any nice dress specified by the bride-to-be that won't make me look fat and was quite worried I would be in the way etc... until Friday night I was still experiencing some jitters as I dragged Mr Squirrel around JP hunting high and low for outfits.

But thank goodness, her mum was quite nice to explain to me and I decided to 'just be myself' instead of risking eyebags, so there I was on Saturday, 7AM, at her house, making preparations for the tea ceremony - instead of tea, her mum used bird's nest! how creative! - and getting excited thinking about the nasty things the 'sisters' would get the groom and his 'brothers' to do!

By the time the church ceremony was over, I was REALLY hungry and thirsty as I hardly had time to drink nor eat (just had a hashbrown for breakfast!) No joke having to get up from my seat every minute to adjust her 'super long' grown... haha... and should I be a tad slow, her mum would be signalling me frantically... LOL... but it was worth it if the pictures turned out nice ya!? After all, it's only once in a lifetime... so everything should be as perfect as you could get! I would expect my 'sisters' to do the same for me next time... they better!!! hahaha...

Dinner was a simple and elegant affair at a restaurant at Clarke Quay. Went with Mr Squirrel and not sure why but my dear friend put us at her relatives' table! It was rather awkward initially cos we duno each other and we had to keep introducing ourselves to each and every relative that asked. But after awhile, her aunts warmed to us and started telling us interesting 'stories' about the bride and groom... and before long, they were discussing (and arguing) about recession, retrenchment, politics, children and work. Very interesting indeed!

After the banquet, me and Mr Squirrel took a walk around the area and checked out a flea market there. Been ages since I last visited Clarke Quay and there's been so many changes and new eateries sprouting up! Certainly would like to come again soon and maybe have dinner or drinks at one of those new pubs!

Reached home around 12am and I was so so so sleepy I dozed off in front of the TV while waiting for my hair to dry! Nevertheless, it was a very meaningful day! Not just for myself, but for my friend - or should I say 'friends' since I know both husband and wife! =) I had flashbacks of how we first got to know each other in Uni as well as online via cybergame 'Maplestory' (for the husband), at the church while they were exchanging rings.

Really amazing! It seems like yesterday when we would confide in each other via MSN our work and relationship woes, how I would always 'take advantage' of the hubby's staff card to buy things at discounts, how we would hang out... and now they are finally happily married and starting a new chapter of their lives! Looking forward to their baby showers soon too!

Jia: Be a good, independent and doting wife! Learn to whip up a delicious meal!

Kennon: Be a caring, understanding and patient hubby! You don't always have to give in but you certainly have to agree to disagree!

Ain't she beautiful? =)
