Weekends are FINALLY here!!!
Yah, despite the fact that this was a short week thanks to National Day, it still felt long... cos most of my colleagues were either on leave or off or somewhere sun-bathing so the cubicles were only 10% filled at any one time and one would feel 'isolated' or lonely thus time dragged... did I make sense?! LOL...
Anyway, I missed the days in Langkawi!!!
Missed the sun, the beach, the sand... and the hunks with barely-there trunks too!
Hahaha... if only there are similarly beautiful stretches of beach in Singapore! East Coast certainly don't count cos it's considered 'tame' compared to our neighbours' and you can't really get to the sand without first jostling with toddlers, cyclists and the hordes of campers with laundry lines criss-crossing amongst coconut trees which tourists mistook as National Day's buntings... Haiz...
If I'm richer... if only I earn about $500 more (shall not be greedy lah) then I would definitely take that one hour flight to the eagle island for some sun tan and cheap chilli crabs (not forgetting alcohol that's extremely cheap but twice as potent as S'pore's!!!) on Saturday and return on Sunday!
For now... I guess I would stick to simple picnics with Mr Squirrel at some secluded (or ulu) spots aka West Coast or Hort Park... or even Botanic Gardens for that added 'Atas' feel... hahaha... until I saved enough for my next trip, that is!
But my plans this week can only work IF the haze condition improves! Hmm... so far not so bad... maybe our 'Abangs' heed our feedbacks and monitored the situation in their backyard? Or the wind changed direction?
Nevertheless, I'm stocking up masks and eye lubricants in case things get bad!
And if things really are bad, then, nothing beats chilling out at home, lying in bed under the aircon and singing along some of the latest hits on the airwave... which, when placed along side each other, summarises our current plight...
It's the period of the year again when our dear and hardworking Abangs cleared their land for new crops... shouldn't we show our appreciation to them for ensuring our food security?!

Alas! Heaven always has its own plans... We may possess the power to turn pee into water... and ensure there's NO rain during NDPs... but there's nothing we can do when it decides to change the course of the wind...

And Singaporeans BEING Singaporeans... we indulge in our fave national sport whenever we are powerless but don't want to appear to be so... we COMPLAIN!!! And we must make sure UN hears it too!!!

Oh well... we have been neighbours for so so SO SO long, claiming to be living harmoniously despite our jarring differences... the Abangs and Kak kaks and Sepupus already know each other's good and bad traits after awhile and we all learn (still learning) to give and take... so used to (or extremely comfortable with) us... our Abangs gave us a wink and said...

We cried. Of cos we did! Imagine your little brother snatch your candies and in the event broke a vase but your mum scolded you instead?! How would you feel?
So we taught ourselves to be strong and not rely on others... and we build up a somewhat impressive army to show that we are not easy pushovers... and in times of peace, when our NS boys are not plouging lands in Pulau Tekong or watering plants in Lim Chu Kang, they become cheap and good resources to combat natural (and pandemic) crisis...
