Boredom has led me to make a list of all the crap I did this summer. Aside from getting fucked over for employment a couple times. (most notably having a job, but having the employer get sold at the last minute)
So with out further ado, a list of medias which I was introduced to, and occupied me for the summer:
Animu (and cartoon):
Peace Maker Kurogane (was cool, but got really bored with it)
Ouran Host Club ("At first I was like, "the fucks a fucking host club", but damn dog, these pimps sleep with rich bitches all day, and get paid for it, that shit is fucking awsome.")
Berserk (fucking. awsome. watch. now.)
Gundam Wing (boring and stupid so far, but supposedly it'll pick up)
Scrapped Princess (80s. nuff said.)
Strike Witches (sheer curiosity, stupid as hell, as you'd expect)
Code Geass (part one, pretty cool, mostly stupid. worth watching though. Just. As. Planned.)
Gurren Lagen (expected stupidity. Got it. and was delighted in the experience. worth it.)
Avatar (pretty damned cool. obviously childish, and the americana annoyed me, but still highly worth watching. Goodbye.... space sword...)
sure theres more, I'm just lazy.
Movies:
Dark Knight (pretty cool. only joker I ever liked.)
Wanted (stupid but fun. Graphic Novel seems more badass though)
Death Race (DUUUUUUUUUUUMB! But amusing. not worth contributing money to in anyway, but fun)
that certaintly can't be all the movies I watched... but I'm lazy...
Graphic Novels:
Watchmen. (can't beleive it took me so long to read it. fantastic shit. Kudos.)
Wanted. (really cool. Nothing at all like the movie. Worth picking up if you like super villians)
Transmetropolitan. (It was amusing, but I don't think I'll bother finishing. Social Commentary heavy, but not always in an intellegent or funny way.)
Manga:
Negima (caught up on it. Current plot arch is fun, and they're managing to avoid another annoying tournament seqeunce, so props.)
Hourou Musuko (cute. drama filled. not much translated. *shrugs*)
Alto (only like, three chapters out. cute. probably won't bother keeping up on it.)
Kodomo No Jikan (oh boy. this'll take explaining. So I was recommended to read this on the basis of a psychological drama. Probably by a lolicon trying to justify his reading habits, but nonetheless. So I read a chapter or two and it looks stupid and fanservicey, but as it continues, the drama is kind of interesting. Kind of like the book Lolita, you can read it as a creepy pervert or from the point of view that "this happens to children, and our over protective natures and denial of the fact often causes us to make the situations worse." Also, luckily, nothing more than cheap fanservice, which was creepy enough. Glad I read it, but I won't bother finishing it or considering myself a fan. But the perspective of "teacher innocently getting wrapped up in his students drama and slowly crumbling under the pressure" was fun to read, and nearly impossible to make not creepy. Don't read unless you can ignore fanservice like a pro.)
Various random horror manga. Because Junji Ito may be an awful writer, but its kind of addicting.
Webcomics:
XKCD (funny, intelligent, usual stuff. Pretentious if you don't find it understandable/funny)
Perry Bible Fellowship (funny, short, good.)
Questionable Content (genera-webcomic! decent. definate throwback to highschool reading habits. Sad that I know most the bands they talk about and think they suck.)
MUSAK: (only thats new to me. oh, did I mention I'm a worthless pop-loving hipster jackass?)
Atmosphere (smooth, sarcastic, and bored with it in a week. good rap though.)
The Kovenant (New: good industrial mood setting music. Old: Classic epic black metal.)
Covenant (Industrial at one of its whiniest. not worth it. good voice though.)
(old) Blind Guardian (Hah. hahahaha. hahaha. Surfin' USA.)
Killswitch Engage (Best whiny emo bullshit I ever listened to for a while. Good stuff)
Children of Bodom (Great hardcore metal crap. Fantastic riffs. terrible lyrics.)
Type O Negative (moody. classic goth.)
HIM (Bored with it so fast. I guess I don't like pop that much)
SUNN O))) (DROOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEE DOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM at it's ffffffinessssst.)
Coheed and Cambria (whiny poppy emo attempts at prog rock. Ok. sorta.)
Death Cab for Cutie (a decent layover until the new Postal Service CD that'll never show up.)
Gorillaz remix CDs (I miss the old gorrillaz... seriously...)
Combichrist (industrial, repetative, background music.
Apocolyptica's non-metallica stuff (really repetative. frankly boring. kinda decent though.)
Electic Six (fun as fuck. messed up avant garde pop-rock party fest. worth a listen.)
SomaFM stations (Indiepop, Cliqhop, Doomed, Beatblender, Secret Agent, etc etc etc)
Die so Fluid (decent female vocalist? in my rock/metal band? And you say she doesn't sound like a Lacuna Coil/Nightwish/Evanescense wanna be, but instead an 80s punk chick? Fuck awsome. Not worth much more than putting in a mix tape though.)
Galneryus (awsome when you aren't paying attention to them. Like X-Japan and Sonata Arctica shoved together. But... ultimately corny as fuck. Alas. Still better than Dragon Force.)
Queens of the Stone Age (oh FooFighters, you reformed and now are listenable. How delightful of you ten years ago.)
And then anything Pandora gives me, because I never pay attention there.
Tabletop Game Systems!!!!!! (god I'm a dork that this is even a category):
FATAL (stupid fucking bullshit. amusing for a glance though.)
DnD 4th Ed (I like it. don't care.)
Exalted (anime fantasy RPG at its most disguised. Interesting.)
nWoD Promethean The Created (mmmm..... finally a world of darkness group that I can get behind)
nWoD Mage The Awakening (damned complicated, but handy when the story teller doesn't want to put up with your promethean's disquiet anymore)
Dave's complicated but handy percentage based morrowwind inspired modern super-power based system. (fun. Doubt anyone but Dave could DM it though. we'll see.)
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHAMMER 40K!!!!!1111~~ (mmm, bolter bitches and space nazi's all the way.... fuck the rest. Also, home to the only cool orks ever. Srsly.)
Skub. (I'm personally a huge fan of skub. Those anti-skub assholes need to learn their place.)
Vidya Games:
WH40k: Dawn of War: SoulStorm (fun. bet the other DoW games are better by far, but they don't have Sisters of Battle, so fuck'em.)
RebirthRO (iRO is same as ever. though the real servers have cool improvements, I don't really care. third classes soonish though. still don't care.)
Spore Creature Creator (fun for a week. then boring. I think I want that gig back soon.)
various ROMs and bullshit.
TF2 with it's various updates: (mmm, arena mode is sweet. but I have a HUEG softspot of payload maps. Like, damn. Specially the new one.)
SoulCalibur4 (glad I played it. fun. slower though. Good new characters. and THANK GOD the Star Wars stupidity is easy to ignore.)
Other: shittons of useless crap. Oh, and sadly, very little books. I'm the worst english major ever, heh. *is ashamed*
Other than that, addiction to /tg/ and a sudden prediliction for memes, my summer has been fairly fine. An acceptable level of socialan'/gamen'/partyan' and the like. Also shit tons of house work (of the landscaping/house repair variety), dealing with my stepmother moving in, and a random parakeet who decided to live in my yard.
I forget why I wanted to write this post... but I did for at least a week. Think I'll either catch the end of Return of the King or play some fucking pl_goldrush for a while.
Fucking pro-skub newbs.
