CHARACTER
» Name: Rosiel
» Fandom: Angel Sanctuary
» Reference: http://complete-angel-sanctuary.angelfire.com/
» Canon Point: Post manga
» Gender: Male
» Age: Appears 18 (One of the oldest angels in Heaven)
» Orientation: Pansexual; Rosiel's an opportunist and knows that he can easily win people over with his body. Male or female (or somewhere in between), he doesn't care who he uses his looks to manipulate as long as he gets his way. He shows this a few times throughout the manga, having no issues whatsoever using his appearance to get what he wants in the end.

» Personality: Rosiel was originally created as a decrepit ugly creature, and he knows that deep down he is a monster. Before this was of no issue to him, but as his sanity slowly crumbled and got worse it became an issue. Originally, he was wise, kind and benevolent, but knew he would eventually lose his sanity and become destructive. He was scared of what he would become, knowing it was inevitable, and fearing the worst begged his sister to kill him before it was too late. As she couldn't do it and ended up sealing him inside the earth instead, his mind began to decay over the years and he became exactly what he had feared and was even

Insecurity and vanity were two of the biggest things he would always concentrate on, constantly asking people if they thought he was beautiful. It's a form of denial, one which only works when Katan tells him he is. He knows he's a disgusting creature under that pretty face and he hates it more than anything, but just hearing the words from Katan makes him feel even a little bit better about himself. Anyone else who tells him he's beautiful though he gets angry and disgusted with, because they don't know the truth and are blind idiots in his eyes. The fact that he even bothers to treat Katan with obvious favoritism shows that despite his mind degenerating so much, part of him still has the capacity to care for someone on a healthy level. Healthy, because he does still care for his twin sister even to the point of obsession but with her it's more of a dangerous yandere type of affection where he's determined to kill her himself if she refuses to love him. With Katan however, he goes far out of his way to protect the boy and keep him out of harms way. Which may be because he was the one who gave Katan life in the first place and views him as the only truly beautiful thing that has ever come from him.

Rosiel is, however, a very co-dependent individual despite his power. His emotions are possibly even more fragile than his mind and he was prone to break down into depressed fits which would most of the time lead to irrational anger. Katan was his support, the one he would cling onto and have tell him that everything was okay. Even though the part of him that knows he's doing wrong and that Katan doesn't approve tries to push the boy away from him, afraid of getting him hurt himself, he stubbornly refuses to let Katan die and even risks having the boy lose his own mind if it means saving his life and even Katan calls him pitiful because he knows that Rosiel needs him and probably couldn't survive without him.

He also has a tendency to contradict himself at times, unable to make up his mind with what he truly wants. There are times when he tries pushing Katan away for his own good to keep him safe and yet goes against those thoughts and selfishly demands that Katan stay by his side no matter what. The last bits of his sanity that he could hold onto at least were shown as before he was losing his mind completely and going into dangerous levels even by his own standards he gave an official order dismissing Katan and telling him never to come near him again.

And while Katan is the one who keeps a small part of Rosiel sane, Alexiel is on the opposite end driving him into depression and fits of rage. His obsession with his sister is unhealthy, and the driving force behind most of his actions. He's heartless and doesn't care who he has to kill or manipulate in order to get what he wants, a danger to everyone around him and a monster who shows no sympathy for anyone who gets in his way. Even cutting down innocent children or people who can't defend themselves means nothing to him. All that matters is what he wants and what he has to do to get it. Even genocide means nothing to him if people get in his way, as shown when he wipes out all the Evil's that were trying to protect Alexiel's body from him.

His jealousy is another dangerous factor which doesn't help his mental stability. He'll kill the opposition if he can, trying to do so with Sara when he thinks that she's the only thing keeping his sister in human form despite Katan trying to tell him that the girl is innocent and has nothing to do with Alexiel. He even hated his own subordinate Kirie because Katan got himself hurt protecting her, which pissed Rosiel off enough into hurting Katan himself since the girl was already dead. Another time after when Katan's body was degenerating though and he became attached to a small angel child Rosiel once again showed that when it comes to Katan he has a bit more rational thought. If he were jealous when it comes to Alexiel, he simply murders whoever is in his way no matter what. But when he tries to kill the angel child and Katan protects her, Rosiel backs off and tells Katan he doesn't care and that he can leave if he wants. He's bitter about it and gets upset, but willing to let Katan do whatever if it's truly what he wants.

But when Rosiel finally falls off the deep end, pushed so far by God's influence, not even Katan is safe from him. Rosiel's mind goes almost blank, losing not only ever bit of rationality he had but also every purpose and thought, becoming little more than a pretty doll for the creator to use as he pleases. Even when Katan shows up to try and save Rosiel, despite being ordered previously to stay away, a few manipulative words from God and Rosiel's powers spike and Katan is decapitated. For a while he's unconscious and trapped in his own mind, it's show that he still has bits of sanity left in him as he's upset and comparing everyone who turned into a doll by his powers with Katan being the only exception. He's telling himself that he had a horrible nightmare that couldn't possibly be true because he had ordered Katan away so he'd be safe. But when he regains consciousness, still holding a bit of that sanity left in him, he sees Katan's head and snaps.

Screaming and losing himself completely, even losing control over his own powers to the point of everything around him crumbling and being destroyed, his mind took the final blow. But after Alexiel talks to him, tells him the truth about everything and how they had both been manipulated and that she really did love him, his sanity slowly starts to return and he calms down. With her promise that he can be with Katan again he allows himself to peacefully fade away into her to heal. The last that's seen of him is his ghost sitting next to Katan's and calmly observing Setsuna's escape, implying that his sanity had finally evened out.

» Appearance: Rosiel is very feminine in appearance (as he took on his sister's looks), being mistaken for a female a few times. The fact that he wears skirts often when not in uniform probably doesn't help that fact. But at one point it does state that someone who thought he was a girl was fooled by his voice, hinting that he actually does have a slightly masculine voice, but has the ability to make it sound completely female at will. Light silvery blue hair that falls to his knees, slightly wavy and golden eyes. He views himself as the most beautiful angel in Heaven. Anyone who says otherwise usually ends up dead.

SAMPLES
» "amatomnes" Entry: [The video switches on to show a face that would be familiar to some, possibly even mistaken for a silver haired version of Alexiel if not for the fact that the figure sitting on the bed is quite naked and, despite the thin blanket covering a bit, obviously male. His eyes are guarded, several emotions flashing over them for a moment as he decides what to say.

He takes a few calming breaths and runs a hand through his hair, as the video shifts at the movement broken pieces of glass can be seen strewn across the floor off to the side of the bed. Another few moments pass in silence as he looks contemplative.]

Who is this... Atia woman the maids spoke of and why do I find myself in her palace?

[His eyes narrow before he takes another deep breath, tilting his head down so his hair falls over his face. For that brief moment it almost seems like he's having somewhat of an internal struggle. He speaks again without looking back up.]

I have many questions, too many to be answered all at once I'm sure. So I'll start with that basic one. Who is Atia and how does she have such power as to breech the span of life and death beyond even what should be possible by cosmic standards?

» "amatomneslogs" Entry: A haze of lingering feelings, a dark sin. Despite his behavior his body was a stranger to such things, such disgusting and despicable things. Not in the act itself, for he could think of a few instances he wouldn't mind, but in the thought of allowing just anyone to lay their hands upon him in such a way. Common filth... But really, was it them or himself which happened to be the more filthy one? His mind too scattered, too torn to bother thinking about it much more. Pain was all he could think about, his mind and his spirit. Both of them seemed so broken, shattered into so many pieces he wasn't sure if he could pick up. He didn't want to wake up, didn't want to have to face reality. There shouldn't be a reality to wake up to, he shouldn't be able to feel any of this in the first place. So why could he? Why couldn't he simply get the peace he craved, the peace he was promised?

His movements dulled down by the uncommon lethargic feeling throughout his body accompanied by a slight soreness, Rosiel pushed himself into a sitting position and raised a hand to his head before bringing his knees to his chest. All at once his mind exploded with thoughts, possibilities, fears, assumptions... Something was wrong... something was definitely wrong here.

"..Katan?"

His voice was soft and hesitant, he knew there would be no answer. Alexiel had promised, and he had seen him again like she had said. For those moments, everything was okay again. But now? Now where was he? Where was Katan? The singular fact that he had a body to hold onto, to dig his nails into his legs hard enough to draw blood... The pain he could feel from such an act, the fact that it wasn't healing and the red liquid was slowly trickling down to stain the bedsheets. His breaths increased at a rapid pace, panic setting in as he tried and failed to piece things together. Nothing made sense, nothing fit together like it should. He tried to calm himself, to block out the red haze that was slowly taking over his mind. No, no not again. He wouldn't let himself fall just because of something like... Like what? He didn't even know what this was so how could he fight against it?

Trying with every bit of willpower he had Rosiel slowly uncurled his body and set his feet on the ground, pushing himself to stand and stumbling for only a moment. He felt weak, broken... powerless. He could feel himself shaking as his eyes rose from the floor to sweep across the room, trying to find some semblance of recognition in anything. Not Heaven and definitely not Hell. Nothing modern which would be found on Assiah either. His hands clenched into fists as he could feel his confusion turning into anger, though his mind was at least controlled enough to know not to press his nails too hard this time. His healing powers weren't working, that much was clear from the wounds he had made on himself. Closing his eyes his rage only continued to build. His wings wouldn't come out, nor would his wires. He couldn't sense anything, not even his own astral powers.

When his eyes opened again and fell upon a mirror he could feel his breath catch in his throat. Looking back at him was no longer a broken and ugly doll, no more than maybe fifteen in appearance from the degeneration. It wasn't as old as it originally was either, but definitely by human standards a bit older than he had been when first being reawaken. Blank eyes stared at the reflection in front of him, other faces coming to his mind. Alexiel, the one whom the appearance belonged to. The sister that had been trying to protect him for so long and yet he was blind to her love for him because of the deception around them. Setsuna, the boy who's life he had so harshly tried to destroy in order to get her back. The same boy who gave her to him willingly in the end, and in a sense saved him from himself and allowed him those few blissful moments to be with Katan once more.

He didn't deserve such beauty, such elegance. Not after everything he'd done, shown himself as a true monster inside and out. With a scream of frustration and anguish he grabbed the nearest object and hurled it at the mirror, his breath slowly evening out as he stared at the shattered pieces which lay across the ground. In one of them, he finally took to notice of something which wasn't there before. His hand rose to his neck, nails digging into the seemingly fragile fabric of the choker. No clasp in the back to remove it, and the cool metal of the cross resting against his skin almost mocking. No, as tempting as it was in his frustrated state the rational part of his mind knew that clawing at it would do no good, serve no purpose other than injuring himself further.

Taking another deep breath in hopes of calming his frayed senses and mind he took one more look around the barren room before turning on his heel and heading for the door. He needed answers and there had to be someone in this place who could provide them. His nude state didn't even phase him in the least bit as he walked out into the halls, he had never been one for pointless modesty and it wasn't as if he had any clothing with which to cover up with in the first place. Clothing was not important, only finding out answers to the endless stream of questions in his hectic mind mattered at that moment.

Extra Note: Playercest is easily avoidable with Rosiel and Katou. Katou would have no reason nor want to ever even associate himself with Rosiel and Rosiel seems to have forgotten completely about Katou after the short time they interacted in the very beginning of the series, never once mentioning or acknowledging him again.
