Pink and Black Ball, 2/29/08

Mar 02, 2008 12:11

Last night was basically amazing. Yesterday as a whole wasn't that great - running around like a madwoman pretty much comprised everything up until about 5pm - but last night was incredible.

Everybody had odds and ends they needed to buy before the ball, so at five, we all piled into Katie K.'s car. And by "we all," I mean seven people. In a five-seat car. Katie K. and Stephanie sat up front, and Katie B., Hannah, Neha, and Jason sat four across in the back, which isn't THAT unusual. But then there was still me to deal with, so I basically laid across everyone's laps. For that level of crampedness, it was actually pretty comfortable. I would have sat up, but we were worried about the 2.3 million cops that populate Norman, and we might have gotten pulled over if they could see me.

Anyway, we split up. All the girls except for me and Katie K. got dropped off at Alta (Ulta?), and then Jason and I went to the mall to try and find him a pink dress shirt, and Katie K. went by herself to her bank. I think everyone was pretty successful. We didn't find Jason's shirt, but he already has a semiformal pink shirt, so he ended up buying a black and pinkish purple tie. Then most people went back to the dorms to start getting ready, but Jason and I were both starving, so we ate a not-quick-enough dinner in Cate, so that by the time we did get back to the dorms, it was twenty minutes to eight. The only thing most of the girls seemed to have accomplished before I got to the floor was painting their nails, though, so it wasn't a big deal. I put on a bit of makeup and my pretty dress and finished getting ready around the same time as everyone else.

When everyone was all good, we started taking a bunch of pictures, most of which turned out astonishingly well. (I have some posted on my facebook.) Jason looked very handsome once Katie K. and I fussed over his collar and tie and whatnot. (Apparently, Jason came down with the expectation that he would be mommed, so he didn't bother trying to straighten himself out too much before getting here.)

When we arrived, the ballroom was completely packed. It was a little ridiculous trying to dance on the overcrowded dance floor, so we danced some of the time back in the corner, where our table was. Even though both Jason and I are terrible dancers, we enjoyed ourselves immensely. We eventually did manage not to look too stupid slow dancing. I'm not too sure about the faster dances though - but who cares? We all had so much fun.

There is one picture on facebook that Katie B. took of Jason and me slow dancing, and I think it is possibly the most precious picture in the whole world. And I also paid $10 for a print of me and some of the girls, which is now my desktop background.

Hannah has a friend named Richard, who is incredibly flamboyant on the dance floor, and loved to pick on Jason. A couple of times, he pulled him out to dance with him in an hilariously suggestive way. Finally, a few minutes after the last time Richard did that to him, Jason ran over to him and did the same thing. It was the funniest thing everrrr.

After the ball, some of us went to Richard's room to watch Super Troopers, which is a really stupid movie and features full-frontal nakedness of a gross fat man. I spent most of the time just falling asleep on Jason, and when we packed up partway through to watch it somewhere else (curfew was approaching), Jason and I decided it was bedtime.
