[Maka is sitting on a bench in the park with a book in her hands. This is not an unusual sight in the least. However, what is strange is the fact that, if you look closely, she is not actually concentrating on the book. Instead, she is looking just over the top of it and at the many people wandering through the park, though she is doing her best to not make it apparent.
What is she doing? She's practicing. She's grown tired of not being a benefit to others, so she's working on her most unique skill: Soul Perception. With a bit of concentration, she is able to see the souls of those around her; 'see' isn't quite the best way to describe the extent of the power, however. Like a sixth sense, Maka can sense souls around her, even ones outside her field of view.
The sensation is like feeling a bunch of soft glows floating around her. She can feel their locations and, with a bit more concentration, their feelings and other qualities. Each is distinct. The drones were unsettling, however: they were blank. Despite them being physically present, she could not detect them with Soul Perception, as if they lacked souls despite seeming to be alive. However, this and of itself could potentially be useful.
If she's able to make this power stronger, perhaps she'll be able to be more helpful to those here.]
