(When the feed clicks on, it would seem that the SFC is being turned over in someone's hands several times. There are brief, fleeting glances of the ground, followed by a smart, relatively expensive looking, albeit somewhat wet, suit. The man holding the device -- when he stops fiddling with it -- is wearing a particularly perplexed expression that doesn't quite manage to hide his irritation. To say he was 'unhappy' would be an understatement -- the timing, in his opinion, couldn't be worse. That said, it's clear he hasn't just arrived -- he's spent a little while trying to gather his bearings (and failing, admittedly). Whatever temper tantrum he might have had upon arrival has more-or-less dissipated.

However, once he seems to realise the device had clicked on, he presses his lips together for a moment, although his expression softens a little. Appearances, he knows, are everything. His words are clear, his tone firm but polite. For a very brief moment, he looks a little unsure, but the expression passes almost imperceptibly.)

This is [...] unexpected. If anyone could provide any information, that would be appreciated. I'm a little lacking in details [...]. It's not often you're abducted and find yourself left with a means to communicate. (He almost sounds a little amused, and 'even if it's a starfish' is the unsaid part of that sentence. Those who are particularly adept at reading body language might notice that the amusement doesn't quite reach his eyes.)

As for myself, whilst I'm sure my abductors know who I am, for those who don't-- my name is Ryou Naruse. I'm a defence attorney based in Chiyoda, Tokyo.

(A brief pause, and Naruse glances away from the device for a moment. When he gives his attention back to it, his expression is polite and almost a little earnest, the smallest of smiles gracing his lips.) I'm sure my abductors have a method of listening -- or are listening -- so if possible, I'd like for us to talk. I'm sure you understand.

not amused by this, pretending to be well-adjusted, somewhat at a loss, starfish phone?, but why is it a starfish
