The Importance of Family

Sep 03, 2004 10:39

Too many people take their families for granted, they don't appreciate them. Then again, maybe most people don't have families that are as great as mine. Think about it.

My dad lives in Hawaii and is currently putting my sister and my 2nd mother (step-mother is just not used in our house) through college. He is in the midst of buying his house. And he was still able to scrape together the money I needed to help make this move safer. My mother took time off from work to help us drive from Washington to California. I had two uncles, an aunt, a cousin, my brother, my mother, my mother's new husband (great guy!), and three friends (practically family) who weren't working show up to load the truck. It only took an hour and a half. And then, my uncle Joe took time off of work to drive the U-Haul truck for us. So all I had to do was drive the car.

And that's the important thing about family. You all love each other and help each other. That's what families do. I love my family so much.

And I love my new family too.

My father-in-law has a bad foot, a bad back, and a bad neck (legacies of 30 years as a police officer) but he still came out and helped us unload the truck. My mother-in-law calls every day just to see how we're doing. My sister-in-law has been trying to find us jobs down here.

I am so blessed that I don't know how to express it fully but I'm going to try.

Thank God I have a family that loves me!

Ciao for now
