Long Time, No Update
I've been checked in to my new unit in 29 Palms for awhile now. Internet is like $60 a month there so I haven't had it installed yet.
I went on my first field op with my new unit. That week was kind of a blur. I remember it being really really hot and that it was hard to sleep in the dirt while the cannons were going off 500 meters away.
I also bought a car; a 1999 Saturn SL2. It's nice not having to pay $400 every weekend to rent a car now. I bought a frickin sweet CD deck for it and Amanda's brother in law is installing it for me.
August 2005 I'm going back to Japan for six months for some more field training. August 2006 we're off to Iraq to serve our time there.
Amanda and I are set to get married on the 2nd of July. I'm excited, but it's kind of shitty that I have to leave for Japan just a month after. I'm going to fly her out in November for a couple weeks so we can go to Marine Corps Ball together and spend some time together half way through the deployment.
This coming week I'll be on the rifle range. I have to laugh at all the silly coaches now.
"Do you know how to get your natural point of aim? . . . you shouldn't use your middle finger as your trigger finger. . ."
Yeah thanks. Oh, you've been a coach for two weeks? Scram, fucker.
Missed Corporal by 12 points. I'm banking on the promotion being next quarter.
