This last weekend was a busy one!
On Thursday night Chad flew in from New Jersey to visit for a few days. We spent a lot of time just relaxing and hanging around. On Friday we went down to McMinnville (30 minute drive) to have dinner with some family (mom, dad, aunt, uncle, cousin, his wife, their kids, other aunt and uncle and cousin Steph) Had a good time.....my cousins have their own winery so we got to taste their new Pinot that they just bottled and labeled the other day....SO good! We got home about midnight and when we walked in the door the phone rang. It was my cousin Stephanie and I thought "oh, maybe she wants to plan something for tomorrow??" because I knew she was on her cell and still driving home with her parents. They had actually gotten in a really bad car accident. Their car hit black ice and flipped over 1 1/2 times, landing on their roof in the median (which was just grass and mud thankfully). My uncle Pat was in the back seat (still buckled) taking a nap, my aunt Helen was driving, and Steph was sitting shotgun. She said they were being transported to the hospital, all 3 of them in ambulences. In the car we go.....dad stayed home to sleep because he was exhausted (which was fine....he needs all the rest he can get!!!!) and we headed to the hospital about 30 minutes away. Luckily, they were able to get all 3 of them in the same hospital....which doesn't happen that often. A few hours later they were released with just cuts, bumps and bruises. I'll post pictures of their car....it's AMAZING they are still alive....seriously. Steph's whole face is nothing but a bruise and Uncle Pat had some soft tissue bruising across his middle....but wow....you'll see the pics. God was definitely watching out for my family that night.
So that screwed our schedule up for Saturday.....we slept most of the day, haha! Ended up seeing "The Hills Have Eyes" Saturday night which I thought was stupid. I HATE scary movies, but for some reason I wanted to see it. The movie isn't even scary.....it's just gorry (sp??) and gross. Plus, a dog gets killed and that was the worst part! I LOVE DOGS! (except Buddy puppy is being a brat tonight and pottyed on the floor twice! GRRR!)
Sunday we went to the beach and stayed the night @ Lincoln City @ Inn at the Spanish Head. An absolutely GORGEOUS hotel and resort with every room facing the ocean. The hotel sits right on the sand.....AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! Just a couple clouds in the sky when we got there Sunday afternoon and we walked on the beach and found rocks and tide pools just right outside our hotel because it was low tide. Chad spent 3 years just north of Seattle in the Navy so he knows what the west coast is like, but he never go the chance to see tide pools or sea anenamies (sp??).....those squishy sea creatures that live on rocks and you can poke them and they squirt water and feel like velcro.....you know what I'm talking about, RIGHT?????!!!!??? So we had fun with those. Saw some starfish too.....it was beautiful. I ended up getting a really bad stomach ache (thanks to cookies and mountain dew!) so we just lounged around in the hotel watching TV/movies. Did some shopping the next day at all the cute beach shops and headed home.
He left today :::sigh::: and here I am.....blah!!! It's okay....we do a good job at seeing eachother every 6-7 weeks. :-)
Dad had chemo today and seems to be doing okay. A little naucious, but okay considering. I think we'll all hit the couch and watch American Idol in a little bit. Ugggg.....2 hours of American Idol.....it's getting kinda ridiculous this year, oh well. It's still fun.
Tomorrow I start work @ Maurices. I open the store which means I'll be by myself for a few hours, which is fine....I'm used to it being an asst. manager @ the La Grande store. It's just a whole new atmosphere and I only know like 3 girls that work there out of 10. Keeping fingers crossed it'll be a good time :-) ALLLLLLLLLLLSO, I sent my resume in last week to a random craigslist.com posting about a "Resident Services Manager" position in Portland at an assisted living community.....a Catholic community actually. I got called for an interview today....the guy was really nice. I've been lucky to get nice people to interview me....even if I haven't gotten the jobs, haha! So my interview is Thursdsay @ 11am.....here we go aaaaaaaaaaaaaaagain!
Keara comes this weekend! She's my random dorm roommate Freshman year in college and ended up being my roommate for the next 3 years and bestest friend. She's from and lives in Ohio....haven't seen her since I was a bridesmaid in her wedding in Sept 2004. Yay! So excited. My parents were basically her 2nd family when she was in Oregon and she wants to see dad so much. She'll cry....she's always a ball full of tears when it comes to sad things. So it'll be a fun weekend....but I'm tired! She comes Thursday night....whew!
Lets see....anything else to update? Hmmmm.......I'm joining Curves. Mom goes and it'll be a good motivational tool. Oh, and, I want to get married. Chad and I looked at "Elk Cove Vineyards" on Friday (it's a few miles from my house) for a possible wedding reception location someday :-) We've talked about marriage for years now....so it's nothing new :-) Someday....soon! (
www.elkcove.com) I think thats about it. I don't update as often as I should, and when I do the posts are rather pathetic, sorry!
Oh another thing.....I know most of you put nice little links saying "Click here for the pictures".....and it takes you to a seperate page....yeah I'm not that livejournal smart so bare with me, they'll be posted on my actual post :-)
