Yes, I'm engaged....
So, when I was debating what was the appropriate way to announce to my friends that I was newly engaged, I decided posting on LJ wouldn't be the best option, since you guys hardly ever update on here. So, on Tuesday night (after getting engaged) I posted the following bulleting on MySpace:
"Wedding Bells
Just wanted to let everyone know that Don and I are getting married! He proposed today and obviously I said yes!
:)"
But, when I only heard something from Jenni, I figured you guys hadn't seen it. So I posted my last post on LJ. So, let me get you guys up to speed. Tuesday, I came home for lunch (unplanned) and there were flowers on the coffee table. While we were making lunch, Don came in the kitchen and held out his hand to give me something and said "This goes with the flowers." I held out my hands and he dropped the ring into them. I was speechless.
When I say we are planning a small wedding, I mean SMALL. There will probably 30 people. Right now, we have this crazy idea that we're having the ceremony in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on top of the bluff. We saw a couple getting married there when we visited in the summer. The view from the top of the bluff is awesome. And since neither of us are crazy about Denver anyways, we don't have a desire to get married here. Since the wedding is probably going to be so small and far from MI, we are going to have the ceremony and dinner after. Then in December when we either come home to visit or to move, we'll have a reception in Michigan for all of our friends and family who couldn't come to the wedding.
I went dress shopping with my girlfriend Lori, and because I'm so freaking excited about it I'm going to post pictures that she took of all the dresses. I think I tried on 6 different ones. And I think I've already picked out "the one."
So, you'll all have to tell me which one(s) you like. It seems like everyone is really partial to one in particular. I loved the halter dress in the catalog, but they didn't have one in my size and so I tried one on 2 sizes too big... so obviously it didn't look right. Oh well. There were lots of others to try on in my size!
