First Day

Today was the first day of school. It was okay, I suppose, but very long. By long, I mean that it seemed like the day would never end.

When I got to school, the car door latch messed up again and it wouldn't shut. It was pretty terrible, but then Mr. Stuart fixed it for me. I went to homeroom with Mr. Boysen and got my locker.

First hour was band. We did nothing.

Second hour was AP History. I already do not like that class, for a few reasons. One thing, I've never been really big into social studies and all that. To tell the truth, it's probably because I barely know anything relating to social studies. Another thing, this is my first AP class, and therefore there will be a bigger work load than I've ever had before. Although Mr. Snyder pretty much said to say goodbye to our 4.0's, I'm not too worried. I just don't like to work a lot. We already have homework, a short essay on a interview with a historian. I don't like it.

Third hour was Acorn. We went around the room and talked about ourselves. I kind of didn't like it, but for no particular reason.

Fourth hour was German. I'm a little worried about this year. Herr told us that on Tuesdays and Thursdays, no English speaking would be allowed, and that there would be "language police" coming around and giving us tickets if they heard us speak English. I suppose I'll just try to say as little as possible. I have to write a 2 minute explanation of my summer vacation in German by Thursday.

Lunch put me in a really good mood. The lunch line in the New Commons was closed, and the line in the Old Commons was huge, so Virginia, Jamie, Alix and I decided to exercise our right to go off-campus and hopped in my car and drove to Wendy's. We went through the drive-through and brought it back to Dondero. We ate in the good old white hallway. I was kind of surprised that everyone came back there again. It was like summer didn't even happen.

Fifth hour was pre-calculus. Katie and Alex Fike are my only two friends in that class. I'm sad that our good old algebra class got split up so much. I'm in with a bunch of seniors. Mr. Lynch seemed pretty nice though, and the class in general didn't seem that bad.

Sixth hour was public speaking. I have it with Beth, Alix, Rachel, and Meghan. Mr. Chisnell is my teacher, he seems like a lot of fun. The only thing I'm worried about in that class is making impromptu speeches. Otherwise, it'll be pretty easy.

I have band in 20 minutes and I'm supposed to have the 3rd song memorized. I have the gist of it, but not note for note. I don't care. I have a headache and I'm already really tired. I'm done at 9, and when I get home I have to finish that stupid essay.
