Wild Weather

Apr 16, 2007 08:09

So today is going to be a paperwork heavy day ... the weather outside is digusting. Snow, sleet, rain, flooding, high winds, down trees, etc. They were saying on the news this morning that if you can avoid going out to do so, yet somehow we're all still here in the office. It's days like this that I am not happy with my job or my boss.

However, the boss and I had a bet of $5 that I wouldn't be here by 7:30 this morning. I won despite the weather, so I will be taking my $5 winnings down to the branch to pay my friend Erik for the Stanley Cup pool I'm in.

I will attempt to debrief everyone of the weekend and get you caught up with where things stand today.

Friday night I drove home to Rochester from Philly. I got in closer to 2 AM. I didn't have time to pack the night before so I needed to stop back at our house first before hitting the road. The drive up wasn't bad at all. And funny enough, between Syracuse and Rochester I was picking up news radio out of Philadelphia despite being 4 to 5 hours away at that point.

Saturday I had every intention of getting up and being productive prior to the hockey game, but sleep won out.

My father brought me Pita Pit for lunch and McDonald's for dinner that day... very nice. However, I think all the junk I ate this weekend is catching up with me now because my stomach is upset and I feel all tired and sluggish today... I've been eating super healthy as of late, so I'm not used to all the sugar, fat, carbs, etc.

Anyway... Sarah and I had a blast at the game. On the way we saw a car with a Sabres license plate frame, so I honked "Let's Go Buffalo", which elicited waves and beeps of excitement back. :)

We watched warm-ups down in the lower bowl so we could hang out before the start of the game because Sarah's seat was in 115, mine was in 221. We did wind up swapping seats for the second period though. The first period was atrocious. They didn't play like it was the freakin' Stanley Cup playoffs at all. Hence why the Isles went up 2-1, and eventually won the game. It's games like that that make me nervous. I want the Sabres to bring the Cup home as much as anyone else does, but those guys have broken my heart in the past so many times that sometimes I find it hard to get as excited as everyone else out there.

Overall it was good to be back in HSBC Arena though and to be part of the playoff atmosphere. :) Plus interestingly enough, being in the 200 level we saw Brian Campbell's parents, who were sitting in my section and we saw Michael Peca after the game!

We made a pit stop in the Sabres Store where I got a playoff T. My first item with the new Sabres logo on it. I was having trouble deciding between a Drury shirt or a Pominville shirt. They didn't have either in the size I wanted (medium... they had from large to super extra large). The one I got commemorates the 2007 Stanley Cup playoffs and it has all the players' names on the back. Following our shopping trip, we met up with Lynette and Jamilyn at K Gallager's for a Blue Light.

On the way home we hit up Mighty Taco and brought a bunch back to my mom and the other overnight nurses at Strong. While waiting for them to make our tacos we made friends with a couple guys that had been down at the game --- one had a Miller jersey the other had a Vanek jersey. They were funny!

I had every intention of getting back to Philly in time for the Hershey/Phantoms game on Sunday, but weather kept me from getting down here. Plus, I got an early start, but stopped at Lord & Taylor to drop off something I had gotten for Eileen at Anthropologie. Well, I picked the weekend to stop that Monique and Rose were there too so they kept me yakking with them for a good two hours. It was nice to see them though! :) Lancome was in gift too, so Rose gave me a couple gifts. One for me and one for me to pass along to Amy.

I can't believe all the snow and rain I encountered on my way home! Crazy!

So here it is, Monday and we're in the office. The lights have flickered a couple times I think because of the winds. My AM appointment was cancelled because the power is out in part of my territory.

I know I have to work. I am close to running my quota, but need to work and get more, however there are two more days left to the tax deadline, so my CPAs won't see me. Mondays my banks have their branch and corporate meetings and close early anyway so it's hard to see them even if I do stop in. There's also about 5 to 6 inches of slush on the roads and in parking lots. I really don't want to drive and/or trapse around in it. The plan is to do paperwork and try some telemarketing. I don't know who I'll reach, but it's worth a shot generating some leads. Amy and I will then get lunch close to the office before heading home.

At home I'm going to update my contact database and stay busy planning the rest of my week. So I'll continue to work, I just don't think I'll be as productive as I could have been if not for the Nor'easter.

I've also got to get to Phantoms locker clean out somehow - which if it's today I'm screwed 'cause of the weather. :P

Matt and I were going to head out somewhere and watch the Sabres game on TV tonight, so we'll see how that works out.
