Wesley leaned back against Cordy's desk. "Fine... But be warned I am in a really bad mood. So if I am not nice about it because you did not give me time to calm down it is your own fault." Wesley snapped slightly.

"So my options are what? Either I can force you two to talk out your crap now and possibly you'll get snippy because I didn't give you enough time, or I can let you leave and deal with a few more weeks of both of you moping around the office and focusing on your own problems when we're in the middle of an Apocalypse. I'm sorry, Wes, I really don't want to piss you off or stick my nose in where it doesn't belong, but for the good of the entire world...you two need to talk."

Cordy smiled, satisfied with her speech, and with getting Wes into the room in the first place. She was definitely gonna milk this coma thing to death.

"Oh! Right! The talking!" Fred said and suddenly felt dumb and nervous.

Wesley really wished he had just walked away. For whatever reason he seemed to be lacking his usual snappy comebacks. "Fine let me put this more bluntly. I do not care. I am not talking to her." He didn't care if he sounded childish or if it hurt Fred's feelings. She had done her share of damage to him already. "Personally I would like to get back to work. You are right we do not have time to be wrapped up in personal feelings."

"I... oh..." Fred said and found herself a little lost on her feet. What had she done? She hadn't even been testy about the walking in with Lilah thing... she had sat next to him. What did she do to earn such ire? Where had he been?

Cordy stiffened. She didn't even want to look at Fred after Wesley's comment, knowing how heartbroken she would look. Funny, two days ago, Wes had been telling her that he was afraid that Fred would never return his feelings. No way Lilah had turned him against Fred that quickly.

She really did not want to have to tell both of them what the other had talked to her about. She was supposed to be good at keeping secrets for her friends. But if Wes didn't change his attitude, she was going to have to spill.

"Wow, that's gonna be really hard saving the world together when you're not speaking. What are you going to do? Ask Gunn to ask Fred to pass the semiautomatic?"

Fred laughed a little but she wasn't sure if it was at the joke or because she was cracking up... what had she done wrong? Just a few days ago she had been laughing and flirting and well Wesley hadn't been flirting back but he hadn't been... cruel...

When Fred laughed Wesley glared. She really got amusement out of his suffering. "You forget that I run a department. I do not have to go to the lab to get her to sign a paper." Wesley said.

Fred looked at Wesley and it was plain as day she was anything but amused, she looked about ready to break into tears. "Yah... you're really that mad at me..." Fred managed to say.

"Yeah, I guess that's the great thing about working at a place this huge. You can hide away in your own corner of the building and never have to see your friends again. But before you do that, at least have the decency to tell poor Fred here why you're not speaking to her."

Because if you don't, I will, Cordy added mentally. She was very, very close to just spilling all the beans and then letting the chips fall where they may. She winced at her mixed metaphor. Maybe after she told them, she could just leave and then get somebody big and burly to block the door and keep them inside. Lock them in a room together while they solved their problems. Wouldn't be much different from what she was doing now, but at least they'd have privacy.

She sighed. That wouldn't work. They'd just go to their separate corners and pout until they had to let them out to feed them.

Oh great she is giving me the eyes... Wesley expression shifted to a sad look. No matter how hard he tried he could never resist her puppy face. His anger was irrational or was it? He really didn't know anymore. He wanted to be free of this pain he had dealt with for almost two years. Was there really anyway to get away from it?

He finally heard what Cordy had said. "Tell her?" Wesley's face went pale and his eyes widened. "I..." He couldn't tell Fred. That would mean telling her he went to Lilah and how he got to this conclusion. Then again why should he care it is not like she is ever going to return his affection. Even so he couldn't form the words.

"Doesn't she deserve to know?" Cordy challenged. After a moment's consideration, she changed her tactic, and her tone pleaded with him. "Wouldn't you want to know, if she had something like that to tell you? Even if you didn't feel the same way, which is anyone's guess," she added quickly, still trying so hard to have one of them be the one to reveal the secrets. "But even if you didn't, can you give me a single reason why someone like Fred wouldn't want to know why you're mad at her?"

Fred looked at Wesley, "Please... what am I suppose to do if I don't know what I did wrong... was it the fight with L-" Fred wasn't sure if she could say Lilah without spitting and she was damn sure she couldn't be sorry for it... that woman was heinous and Fred would never be able to get along with her, not in this or any other lifetime, but other then Lilah existing again that was the only reason she could think of... the only thing that had changed and if it wasn't that then it was Lilah and if it was Lilah then...

Fred clutched her chest a little, no wonder the ancients had thought emotions came from the heart, she could actually feel it tearing in two, though she knew it was just a psychosomatic reaction to extreme emotional distress.
