After the meeting, Angel had taken to just wandering the hallways. It was something that he did in order to try and gather his thoughts. He used to do it at the Hyperion as well. Maybe he could set the people as they came in up in there for somewhere to stay? He certainly had the money to completely renovate the place now, unlike before when only one wing was even somewhat livable, and the rest was as bad as it had ever been ( ... )

Eliot heard Angel coming in, though it was a bit easier to than Eliot expected (okay, his pride aside, part of why he hated the supernatural was that other than Parker no mortal could sneak up on him like they could). He was a little grateful that the vampire had made an attempt to not surprise him. He was pretty sure he wouldn't accidentally cut off Angel's head in surprise (and that Angel would stop him from doing so), but causing physical trauma did not aid the growth of team spirit ( ... )

"He actively tried to kill me and my friends more than a few times," Angel told Eliot. Lindsey and Angel's relationship had always been contentious at best, and down right adversarial during more normal times. "Of course, I cut his hand off once, too, but he was trying to cause Cordelia to slowly go insane. Actually, it was driving her insane pretty quickly at the time."

"Well, he had actively sought my demise, even against his firm's...well, I guess it's mine now, but his boss's wants," Angel said. "He helped bomb my office once, he tried to drive Cordelia insane with visions, oh, Wes was in that office at the time, he sent one of my friends after me, not knowing we were friends, he raised my sire from the dead in an effort to try and drive me to the dark side..." Angel trailed off. "Oh, and recently he pretended to be a dead friend of mine to another person in this office in an effort to get the Senior Partners, those are the people who really own this place, to get rid of me to prove that I wasn't the person in some prophecy that ( ... )

Eliot gave the wooden sword an experimental swing, testing it's weight and balance so he'd know how to adjust for it in a fight. He was good at adjusting on the fly but for an opponent like Angel... even in a sparing match where death wasn't actually on the table it was important to be prepared ( ... )

If Eliot had said that memory out loud, Angel might have freaked out, at least a little. That sword fight had been the last interaction between Lindsey and Angel before he was sent to his own personal hell and such. So, that would have been weird. He did notice the momentary lasp in Eliot's face, though, and would have taken advantage of it if it had taken a second longer. Angel did notice that Eliot had quick recoveries ( ... )

Eliot tried to focus on the fight but the flashes of memory kept pulling at the edge of his minds eye. He'd fought with worse distractions, he had fought drugged before and with enough injuries to lay a lesser man out ( ... )

Angel wasn't too surprised that Eliot was able to counter the move at the last second, but he did notice that he was surprised by it. So, the man could be surprised. Good to know right now, because he was an expert fighter, that much was obvious. He could also tell that Eliot was able to learn from his mistakes.

When Eliot backed up, Angel went after him, chasing him with a flurry of attacks, reminding himself to keep it to an almost human level of speed, he knew that he could go a little faster than normal right now because Eliot was an expert fighter and seemed to be a little more than human in strength and speed.

Eliot blocked each of the flurry attacks, each quicker and with more ease than the last. He wasn't going to rely on trying to predict Angel's moves but fighters and fights all had rhythm and even if Angel switched styles the more you fought an opponent the better a feel you got for their methods ( ... )
