HELP!!..what do i do??
ok. i have no idea what to do in this situation. well..actually, i do have a couple ideas..just not sure if it's the best (or legal) way to handle the situation heh..
so..i'm at my sister's house. and she tells me about a young female kitty that just had 3 kittens. the mama "belongs" to the chick 2 houses down..it's an outdoor cat. well, one of the kittens is deaf. she tells me how the owner wants to find homes for them..and i'm totally sucked in. i want to go see the kitty right now blah blah. so i go over there..owner doesn't appear to be home, all the kitten are on the porch. i hold the deaf kitty. i'm ready to take it home right this second. if i don't keep it (which i probably will), i know i can find a home for it. there are plenty of clients who would melt at this story. so anyway..i'm ready to go.
my sister knocks on the door to see if they're home so i can take the kitty. woman answers.
sister: "you're trying to find homes for these kittens right?"
owner: "no. i'm keeping them all."
me: "i can't buy this one from you?..you know it's deaf right?"
owner: "yeah i know. i'm keeping it."
me: "...outdoor?"
owner: "yeah."
me: "i can't buy it?? i'll keep him inside and love him very much.."
owner: "sorry..keeping them all."

my sister tells me that the people that live there aren't..all "there"..mentally. they're really weird. but..i mean.. it's DEAF. it's a busy street..with several people who let their dogs run loose in the neighborhood. i can guarantee it'll be dead within 6 months..IF it makes it that long. plenty of cats that can *hear*..get attacked by dogs and run over on that street my sister tells me.
i am NOT happy about this. so there's 2 adult cats (mom and dad)..and 3 kittens. probably 10 or 12 weeks. ear mites..fleas..no vaccs..not registered with the city..not fixed and won't be anytime soon..
i don't know what to do. i called some coworkers..they all said to just fucking steal the cat. it's obviously gonna disappear at some point anyway..whether hit by a car or eaten by a dog..who's to say it was stolen..ya know? and if an animal is not registered with the city of austin..animal control can pick it up..right? so i could call animal control..but then that means the other 4 cats will go to the shelter and possibly be euthanized..though they are all young cats afterall..and will almost surely be adopted.
i mean..i REFUSE to let this little deaf baby live outside totally neglected like this..poor baby left out there like a lamb to the slaughter *cries*
