Buying groceries and being mindful of price at the same time is really confusing. I was trying to decide which laundry detergent to get. I noticed that the generic brand was only $1.99, and all the other brands started at about $5.99. I was tempted to buy the generic but then I thought, is there some REASON that nobody I know buys generic laundry detergent? Will it smell bad? Make my clothes fade? Cause me to break out in hives?

Same thing for toothpaste and toothbrushes. Aquafresh toothpaste was on sale, but it didn't say "cavity protection AND breath freshing," like Colgate Total did. Is there a reason my dentist gives me Colgate total? And what about toothbrushes? Is it bad to buy the cheap ones? Do different-level bristles really clean your teeth better? Will I get cavities if I use one with a smaller head?

It was overwhelming. I left with my usual Cheer Free detergent and Colgate Total toothpaste, because clothing color quality and plaque buildup are things you just don't want to f around with. I bought a cheap toothbrush though. I can't matter that much...right?
