Sawyer/Kate Top Ten Moments

May 27, 2008 17:43

I. FINALLY. FINISHED.

You have Kate and Sawyer, who are these two characters who are obviously really, there's this incredible thing happening between them, and yet both of them I think are afraid of, you know, this sort of intimacy and kind of connection, and they're drawn to and also sort of afraid of the feelings that they have between each other at the same time.

HONORABLE MENTION- Catch 22

[Sawyer hands Kate a tape]
Kate: What's this?
Sawyer: Your mix tape.
[Kate is smiling and looking at him]
Sawyer: Well, you gonna take it or ain't you?
[She takes it]
Kate: The best of Phill Collins, huh?
Sawyer: Don't get picky. And if Bernard asks, I don't know a thing about it.
Kate: Thanks, James!
Sawyer: So why did you jump on me last night?
Kate: What?
Sawyer Was it because you saw the doc hanging out with Juliet?
Kate: It's not like that.
Sawyer: It's not? You ain't gotta use me, Freckles. All you have to do is ask.

This is an honorable mention because it doesn't exactly end on a positive note. But still...I love the whole mixtape thing...((partially because I'm a huge Phil Collins fan...))

10. The Hunting Party

[We see Sawyer sleeping in an airline chair at the beach. Kate approaches and tosses a banana on Sawyer's chest.]
Kate: Morning.
Sawyer: Did you just throw a banana at me?
Kate: Couldn't find any rocks.
Sawyer [smiling]: There are nicer ways to wake a man up, Freckles.
Kate: Come on, it's time to go get your bandages changed.
Sawyer: Why can't you do it for me?
Kate: Because I'm not your nurse, and Jack's got the bandages.
Sawyer: Of course he does. [He struggles to stand up] You want to give me a hand?
[Kate helps to pull him up and they stand very close together looking at each other.]
Sawyer: Thanks.
Kate: Come on.

Oh how I love the flirting! And the invading each other's personal space...and the almost kissing. *sigh* It's just all good.

9. One of Us

There was no dialogue. Just Sawyer searching like mad for Kate. Then his face lighting up with relief seeing her. And then a hug that spoke louder than any words could. Because Sawyer really wishes he didn't care about Kate. It would make his life a heck of a lot easier. But it's not possible. He looooves her. And she looooves him. *sigh* End of story.

8. The Glass Ballerina

Sawyer: Are you having fun yet, Freckles?
Kate: Quit staring at my ass.
Sawyer: Give me something else to stare at.

...

Kate: Are you okay?
Sawyer: Never better.
Kate: What the hell were you thinking?
Sawyer: I couldn't help myself -- you just looked so damn cute swinging that pickaxe. Chain gang looks good on you, Freckles.

...

Kate: Why'd she call you James?
Sawyer: Because that's my name. I noticed something else, too. You taste like strawberries.
Kate: You taste like fish biscuits.

Yeah I know I combined like three scenes into one moment....but...the whole episode literally left me squeeing like the little fangirl I am. The banter *sigh* I really, really miss the banter.

7. Outlaws

Sawyer: Alright Sassafrass. But if you want a drink, you gotta play.
Kate: Play what?
Sawyer: I Never.
Kate: What?
Sawyer: I Never.
Kate: Am I suppose to know what that means?
Sawyer: Call it a way to get to know each other better. [Sawyer hands Kate a bottle]
...
Sawyer: I never been in love.
Kate: You've never been in love?
Sawyer: Ain't drinkin' am I? [Kate drinks]
Kate: I've never had a one night stand [Sawyer drinks]
Kate: Bottom's up sailor
Sawyer: I gotta drink for each one?
Kate: Your turn.
Sawyer: I never been married. [Kate drinks]
Kate: Didn't last very long.
I never blamed a boar for all my problems. [Sawyer drinks]
Sawyer: I never cared about having carte blanche cause I only wanted to spend some time with the only other person on this island that just don't belong. [Kate drinks]
Kate: I never carried a letter around for 20 years because I couldn't get over by baggage. [Sawyer drinks]
Sawyer: I never killed a man. [Both Kate and Sawyer drink] Well, looks like we got something in common after all.

The banter here was priceless. Plus, the scene just shows how much Kate and Sawyer understand each other. They are both in the same situations, both struggling for acceptance and trying to find a place in this new society they've been forced into. And they both have bad habits they're trying to break, and they're kind of using each other to lean on...or at least that's what I took out of it

6. Every Man for Himself

Sawyer: Hey, hey hey hey hey. Take it easy, Hoss. Take it easy. [Pickett drags him out of the cage and throws him to the ground.] Take it easy!
Pickett [throwing him against Kate's cage]: Shut up!! [to Kate] Do you love this guy?
Kate: What?
Pickett [punching Sawyer]: I said do you love him?!!
Kate: Stop!
Pickett [punching Sawyer]: Do you love him?! Do you love him?!!
Kate: Leave him alone!!
Pickett [punching Sawyer]: Do you love him?!
Kate: What are you doing? Stop!!
Pickett: Do [punch] you [punch] love [punch] him [punch]!
Kate: Yes! I love him!! I love him!! Please.

I find it funny that it took Pickett almost killing Sawyer to get Kate to admit she loved him. But hell, it's very like Skate to deny their feelings until life threatening situations. *sigh* They kinda remind me of my other favorite OTP *cough*LP*cough*...sorry off topic...

5. I Do - The Sex

Kate: Go! Get out of here, run!
Sawyer: You're out of your cage. Why don't you run?! Because me? I ain't running, 'cause there ain't no place to go.
Kate: What are you talking about?
Sawyer: [Sigh] We ain't on our island. We're on another island, like Alcatraz, couple miles off shore. So unless you're a mermaid, or you got a boat, there ain't no point.
Kate: [Pushing Sawyer in chest] When were you planning on telling me this?
Sawyer: [Whispering] Never.
Kate: Why not?! Why wouldn't you?!
Sawyer: 'Cause I wanted you to believe we had a goddamn chance.
[Kate, crying, kisses Sawyer. They embrace.]
Sawyer: What was that for?
Kate: I don't know.

*is dead from hotness* No words.

4. What Kate Did

Sawyer: I love her.
...
Kate: Can you hear me? Sawyer? Wayne? [Sawyer stirs] I'm probably crazy and this doesn't matter, but maybe you're in there somehow. But you asked me a question. You asked me why I -- why I did it. It wasn't because you drove my father away, or the way you looked at me, or because you beat her. It's because I hated that you were a part of me -- that I would never be good. That I would never have anything good. And every time that I look at Sawyer -- every time I feel something for him -- I see you, Wayne. It makes me sick.
Sawyer: That's about the sweetest thing I've ever heard.
Kate: Sawyer?
Sawyer: Who the hell's Wayne? [he opens his eyes] I'm in a bunk-bed?
Kate: Yeah, you're in a bunk-bed.
Sawyer: Are we saved?
Kate: No, Sawyer. Not yet.

Most people remember this episode as the one where Kate kisses Jack. I remember it as the episode where Kate proves that she's running from Sawyer. Because Sawyer reminds her of her past. But her feelings for him are real. And! We also find out Sawyer loves Kate. Thus their story continues to unfold even when the roadblocks pop up.

3. I Do - The After-sex

Sawyer: Lemme ask you something, Freckles. When Blockhead was beating on me, and you said "I love you." That was just... to get him to stop, right?
[Kate is silent. She kisses him without a word, and then lays down on his chest.]
Sawyer: I love you, too.

Sawyer? Insecure?? I know they should be like antonyms. But honestly, seeing Sawyer vulnerable was just so great. Plus it took three season for us to get Sawyer and Kate to admit their love to each other. And I really love that Kate didn't have to say it out loud. The look on her face before she kissed him *sigh* Gah! They are too cute!...Also, I love how Jack sees them *looks around* Sorry...that was low...I take it back *mutters* not really

2. Collison

Kate: Sawyer? Hey, you have to listen to me, okay? The only way that you are going to get better is if you take this pill. So I want you to swallow it, okay? Okay, here we go. [She puts the pill in his mouth and holds up the glass for him to drink] Now swallow, swallow. Good! Good.

Maybe alot of people wouldn't have this scene so high up on their list...but I love it because it's so rare to see Kate being this tender. I mean, she can be seductive and nice, but her tender side really shows around Sawyer. Plus...jealous Jack...priceless. *tehe*

1. Conman

Kate: So I'm here. Where is it?
Sawyer: Happy to tell you, as soon as I get that kiss.
Kate: What? Are you serious.
Sawyer: Baby, I am tied to a tree in a jungle of mystery. I just got tortured by a damn spinal surgeon and a gen-u-ine I-raqi. Of course, I'm serious. You're just not seeing the big picture here, Freckles. You really going to let that girl suffocate because you can't bring yourself to give me one little kiss? Hell, it's only first base. Lucky for you I ain't greedy.
Kate: Okay.
Sawyer: Okay.

First of all, I think Evangeline looked absoultely stunning in this episode. Of all the episodes of Lost, this was her at her most pretty. To this point, I had been back and forth on the Skate/Jate thing. But this kiss kinda sealed their fate as the OTP of Lost for me. (Although Charlie/Claire were really REALLY close). I loved the fact that Sawyer wanted a taste of Kate before he lost all her respect. It showed that he was already starting to have inklings of feelings for her. Plus the kiss...was hot. With all that tongue action...*sigh*

This was fun. And a pain in the ass. And it didn't turn out as pretty as I would have liked. But I don't care. Skate was worth all the work, and they're always pretty.
