What I Want
I say that I have no regrets
That they are lesson learned
But lately I am noticing
That there are things
I wish I'd never done
Like telling you I'd be there
'Till we were old and grey
Something that I obviously
Couldn't guarantee
And walked away
Or hurting you so badly
That you've put these walls up
Now everything that might have been
From this point forward
Has vanished into dust
"I'm sorry" just doesn't cut it
Or begin to express the guilt
That ten long years
Of love and pain
Has grown inside my heart
I want to start from scratch again
This time as adults, not as children
And work together, fight together
To make this work the way
We really should have from the start.
