Dear Mr. Diem <-------(my manager)

My friends and I are from Washington state and we had the pleasure of visiting your gardens last Sunday (September 27, 2009). The gardens were beautiful and we enjoyed our visit. One of the highlights of our visit was purchasing our tickets from Lee Ann Eberhard. She was truly a delight, her energy and enthusiasm were contagious. I asked her for directions to the closest Marta station since I would be going directly from the gardens to the airport. She took the time to write our exact walking directions for me. I had just one carry on bag to take to the airport I didn't want to carrying it while walking through the gardens so I asked Lee Ann if there was a place to check my bag. She said that there wasn't however she would be happy to keep it in her booth until I left.

It wasn't just the fact that she did favors for me that I liked her it was her genuine happiness in being at her job. Having been in a supervisory position myself for the last 30 years I always pay close attention to customer service and employee attitude. Lee Ann has the kind of personality that employers love to find. You can teach people skills for a job, however it's hard if not impossible to teach people to be genuinely excited about their job and give above and beyond what is asked of them.

If I lived in the Atlanta area and was looking for an employee I must say I would be trying to steal Lee Ann away from the garden and have her work for me!

I know in customer service people are always quick to let you know if an employee did something wrong. I think it is even more important to let people know when they did something right. Please pass on to Lee Ann my thanks for being such a bright spot in my day.
