It's like that one song...

Well, it's been awhile since I've updated this thing. A few years, in fact. I sort of stopped caring about the journal in general and it wasn't until recently that I bothered to look in on it again for various reasons. There certainly are a few people on my LJ friends list that I wouldn't mind getting in touch with again or hearing from. I've been meaning to update this for awhile but my job consumes most of my time and attention and it was only today, when my vacation started for Christmas, that I've had enough breathing room to bother with this.

Anyway, so what's been going on with me. I'll try to keep it brief. Keyword is 'try' >.>

Well, I graduated from college more than a year ago with a Bachelor's in Asian American Studies and a Psychology minor. I moved home and picked up an internship at City Hall for awhile, just making and earning some money while I waited for my visa paperwork to work itself out. The work was pretty boring and tedious but it was money and that was what mattered.

The visa did work itself out around April or so of this year and then the arrangements began being put into place for me to move to Australia. Can't say I exactly recall when it was I actually moved here but it's been awhile now and just last month, I got a great job working as an HR Administrator.

Depending on who you are, that either sounds really boring or really powerful. It's neither. However, it does build on a lot of what I learned during my internship and provides me with a lot of opportunities in terms of upward mobility if and when I want it which is pretty great. Plus, I've been told repeatedly pretty much since my first week that I'm really good at it. Everyone at the company is very friendly and warm and it feels like I've been there for way longer than a month. It's fulltime and the commute blows but the money's decent and I'm really enjoying what I'm doing; that's really all I've ever wanted from a job.

I'm officially engaged and have been for about 2 months or so now. There will be 2 weddings, one in Australia and one in the US. It seemed unreasonable to ask our respective friends and family to fly across the globe for a wedding (especially considering the price of plane tickets) so we decided to do it this way instead. The Aussie one is in February and it'll be very small and informal. The one in the US is projected for September right now but that may change and will be, by far, the larger of the 2 weddings.

So yeah, in short, that's what's been going on in my life. Trust me, the other version's way longer.

Just a note about my journal. I've made some changes and am not bothering with any privacy settings or filters any longer. I don't necessarily have a clear idea of what I'm gonna do with it yet but I know that I'm not paranoid about that sort of thing anymore and don't really give a damn what people do or don't read here.
