****STORY, as requested by Nora and Vani! hahaha****

We went to see the immigration attorney yesterday, after I got off work. We got all kinds of information and found that in paying him it will be expensive, but not as expensive as we thought. It will be complicated, but not as complicated as we thought. It will take a long time, and we can make no plans until his Fiance Visa is approved. But it was a good meeting and we left very encouraged and happy that we can do this.

We stopped at Taco Time and got veggie wraps because we were starving and wanted to make it to Archie McPhee's in time, since they close at 7pm. Archie's is really important to us, because it is technically the starting point of our "relationship"...or how we started looking at each other as possibly more than friends.

Dario had broken up with a girl in September of last year and he was very sad...it wasn't a long term relationship, but he was very hurt, nevertheless. Because we were just becoming friends I offered to send him a "wee care package" from America to cheer him up. He accepted with glee and sent me his address. I then sent him the web address for Archie's and he was even more stoked.

I think I spent a total of $7 at Archie's (little monster finger puppets, a little Ballard "Viewmaster", etc...) and then $5 to mail a small padded envelope of goodies to my new Italian "pen pal." When he received his package he was excited and touched that someone who hardly knew him sent him something to cheer him up. Then our relationship changed almost overnight...we realized we really liked each other as MORE than friends. Of course, that feeling has lasted almost a year now.

So we went to the "More Archie's" store first and look around, and run into Devon and her sister. We chat a bit and buy our stuff and then say goodbye to them and move onto the bigger store. We walk in and Dee seems overwhelmed. We are pointing at things and saying "oh look at that...look at that" to each other.

As I was standing in front of the cool patches and devil ducks, buy the front window of Archie's I heard, "Oh! Look what I found!" I turned around and there was Dee, box in hand...ring exposed. I stared at him, then said..."you have a question for me?" And he asked me to marry him...I said YESSS!!! And he put the ring on.

Then I cried and squealed and tried to run next door to catch Devon and show her, but she had left...so I showed the really cool chick who worked next door and she freaked out with me! hahahaha

Then we tried to look at the store but it was almost 7pm and we were too distracted. I showed the people at the main store and they thought it was rad he had proposed there. We have to go back again tonight to actually shop!!! hahahahahaha

Unconventional, totally us and completely relevant to our relationship...and now I know why he was acting odd. He knew the whole time and he was afraid Devon was gonna mess him up! hahahahaha

So there you have it in a nutshell...the following way I told a friend is even funnier...I tried to call my Mom first (on the land line and cell) but no answer. We decided to go home and try again. We got there to see Kim coming outside with the dogs, all tired and with an iced tea and cigarette...just wanting to chill out.

We went in the back to sit with her and she didn't even notice the ring for 10 minutes...so I asked her if she considered herself an observant person? She said..."yes, you dyed your hair...it looks good." I said, "it's not my hair." She said..."THAT'S NOT YOUR HAIR???" I said..."no no no, it is my hair and it is freshly dyed...it's not about being observant of my hair." Then she noticed the ring and SQUEALED super loud. hahahaha

FUNNY.

That's it, that's all. :)
