Frugality is my life force.

I was a cheapskate before it was cool and sometimes I have to wonder if I might be the only penny pincher left once the recession begins to ebb.

This is what happens when I have to dig through my news feed for articles I can use on a client's website. Miscellaneous stuff tends to end up in the mix and it usually ends up being something that I find interesting. This time it is about the way people spend.

The recession made more people conscious about what they were spending. However, from what I've read, not everyone is happy being cheap. Apparently there is a whole world of big spenders out there that enjoys spending more than they have and they don't like being tied down to a budget. I have to ask, does anyone like having to live by a budget? I'm sure it would be nice to be able to spend as much as I want when I want but by being cheap and trying to get the most out of a dollar, I'm able to do a little more with my money than the budget-free spender can.

I love to shop, I would even consider myself a bit of a shopaholic, but I'm also so dang cheap that I will pinch pennies, use coupons when necessary, and check out discount stores for the best deals. To me, being frugal and being a shopaholic go well together. However, I can get the same rush shopping for groceries as I would buying something I want (like scrapbooking supplies). I don't need a big expensive item to experience the therapeutic feelings that come with the shopping experience. Maybe that is all I need to balance myself out?

shop, cheapskate, shopping, cheap, economy, frugal
